									        STATES OF MATTER
               SOLID
 Has its own size and shape (ROCK)
     Molecules move very little

              LIQUID
 Does not have its own shape (JUICE)
and takes the shape of the container
it is in Molecules move quite a bit
             GAS
 It spreads out to fill a space and
has NO shape of its own (OXYGEN)
 It will come out of the container
  when you open it
 The molecules bounce around a
  lot!
                     PROPERTIES
     (COLOUR, SIZE, SHAPE, ODOR, TEXTURE)

 Red
 Round
 Medium size
 Latex smell
 Smooth texture
                VOLUME
 The amount of SPACE that a liquid takes up

(This milk takes up 2 cups in volume)
                  MASS
 All matter (solid, liquid, gas) have mass
 Usually we measure mass as weight
               MIXTURE
 Something made of two or more things
  put together
 No new matter is made


              SEPARATE
 In a SOLID mixture, each of the pieces
  can be separated (pulled apart)
                   DISSOLVE
 When you make a mixture with liquid,
then it is hard to separate
 The liquid/solid or liquid/liquid will
  dissolve into each other
