Welcome To Our Team... The Vision of Burton Racing ... Burton Racing is committed to bringing high level professionalism and teamwork to the ladder series of open wheel racing. Keith Burton, owner and manager of Burton Racing, began his career training at Russell Racing School, where he led the mechanics’ class. From there he transitioned to the Barber Dodge Pro Series, winning the Valvoline Mechanic Of The Year award. Keith then shifted into the Toyota Atlantic Series as Chief Mechanic before moving into top-level racing in the Champ Car and Indy Car Series. He received the Rookie Mechanic of the Year award his first year in Champ Cars. Later, he won Two Indy Car championships and the Indianapolis 500, for a total of 33 career wins. Having worked through the ladder system of open wheel racing, he has the knowledge and experience at all levels to bring success to up-and-coming drivers and crew members while promoting it’s sponsors. Promoting Our Sponsors… By the performance and conduct of both our drivers and team members, it is our highest goal to promote our sponsors’ companies and products so they will grow with our team. We provide the opportunity for sponsors to be promoted on the race car, transporter, printed media and team clothing. You will experience an open, welcome environment whenever your schedule allows you to join us at the track. Keith has experience promoting sponsors as diverse as Avista Base Oils, KOOL, Pioneer, MCI-WorldCom, Motorola, Archipelago/ NYSE, Jim Beam, Klein Tools, 7-11, XM Satellite Radio, and manufacturers such as Mitsubishi, Mazda, Dodge, Chevrolet, Toyota Racing Development, and Honda Performance Development. Developing Future Champions... Everybody’s got to start somewhere, right? Why not take your next step with us? You’ve proven yourself in Go-Karts and Formula Fords just like talented drivers before you. Now it’s time for the next level. There’s more to learn than just driving the car. To move through the ladder system and be desired by top-level teams, you need to develop a complete package. That means having a good understanding of how to professionally deal with the team, sponsors, and media while dominating on the track. At Burton Racing, we will help you learn why it is so important to have patience and make decisions with a clear mind, even under the highest pressure. We will help you learn the technical aspects of driving the car, and how to communicate effectively, giving feedback to the crew to make your car as fast as possible. In addition, Burton Racing is committed to solid teamwork, helping drivers understand their role in the success of the entire team. Keith has personally had success winning races, championships, and the Indy 500 with drivers such as Chris Menninga, John Fogarty, Eric Tresslar, Will Langhorne, Alex Gurney, Christiano DaMatta, Oriol Servia, Michael Andretti, Paul Tracy, Dario Franchitti, Tony Kanaan, Bryan Herta, Dan Wheldon, and Marco Andretti. With the experience that we have in racing and the contacts with the movers and shakers in the highest levels of open wheel racing, we can help open doors to the next level of your career. Training Crew Members… Burton Racing is committed to giving young, talented mechanics the opportunity to gain experience by working on the car and with a team that can show them how to make it to the top. It’s more than just wrenching on the car – building a good race car takes attention to detail and a constant striving towards efficiency. To excel at the highest levels of motorsports, from the demands of preparing the car to the thrill of race day activities, crew members need to employ a clear, precise thought process, excellent communication, and good physical health. When all of these important attributes are achieved, success awaits just around the corner. In the ladder system of racing, mechanics will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of the race car, including chassis building, car set-up, gearbox preparation, electronics, fuel system, and light fabrication. Learning all of these skills is very important because at the top tier of racing, crew member responsibilities become much more specialized. At this level of racing it is vitally important to learn as much about the car as possible. With his experience throughout the ladder system of racing, Keith has worked on cars built by manufacturers such as Van Diemen, Crossle, Formula Russell, Star Mazda, Mondial, Swift, Reynard, Lola, and Dallara. Cars were powered with engines by Ford, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Dodge, Toyota, Chevrolet, and Honda. Keith’s hands-on experience with a number of successful professional teams provides a breadth of knowledge of work styles and techniques to help you gain experience as you hone your own skills.
