Note that Etam plc was sold on 7 April 2005 Third quarter Net pre-tax sales for the 3rd quarter of 2005 came to €201.9 million, up 7.3% compared with sales for the 3rd quarter of 2004. On a like-for-like basis*, the Group’s activity was stable (up 0.1%, reflecting -3.2% in France and +20.8% in China). In France, the third quarter activity saw good margins, especially during sales. Nine months to 30 September Net pre-tax sales at 30 September 2005 totalled €621.3 million, up 5.3% compared with sales at 30 September 2004. This figure includes negative currency translation of €2.7 million due to the depreciation of the Chinese currency versus the euro year on year over the first nine months. On a like-for-like basis, Group business was down slightly (-0.4%, reflecting -2.1% in France and +8.3% in China).
