ASSISTANT PERSONNEL ANALYST
MONTHLY SALARY (Based on a full-time, 12-month position): $4,316 $4,554* $4,804 $5,069 $5,347
*Pay at the second step begins with the pay period following 130 days of
satisfactory paid service. Increases thereafter are annual.
DESCRIPTION: An Assistant Personnel Analyst assists in performing personnel work related to compensation,
classification, rules and policies; organization studies; recruitment and examinations; equal employment opportunity and
affirmative action; and/or employer-employee relations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF AN APPLICATION: All candidates must have graduated
from a recognized four-year college or university, preferably with a major in business administration, public administration,
psychology, personnel administration, industrial relations, psychology, social and behavioral sciences, or a closely related
field AND one year of professional-level experience, after receipt of the baccalaureate degree, in one of the following areas:
position classification, compensation, wage and salary administration, recruitment and selection, training, affirmative action,
or employer-employee relations. Public personnel work is desirable. A master’s degree in one of the aforementioned majors
may be substituted for the experience required above. All candidates must have a valid California Class C driver’s license
and access to an automobile.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: It is expected that an applicant will possess the following qualifications:
Principles, purposes, functions, policies, and practices of public personnel management including basic Merit System
Principles, terminology, and techniques of classification and compensation plans, examination preparation, interviewing,
Statistical methods and graphic presentation
Fact-finding methods and procedures
Research techniques and sources of reference material and information regarding personnel management
Uses and capabilities of computer applications, systems, and hardware
Perform research and obtain information in writing or in person
Read and interpret reports, articles, and books which may contain complex and/or legal terminology
Compile and tabulate data and perform the necessary statistical procedures to present the data in the most meaningful
Work effectively with District administrators, employees and employee organization representatives, and representatives
of private and public agencies, and individuals from a variety of ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds
Learn general and specialized computer applications
EXAMINATION PROCESS: The examination process may consist of one or more parts which may include a training and
experience evaluation, written test, performance test and/or oral interview. Individuals protected by the "Americans with

arrangements to be made at the testing site, your request must be received at least 3 days prior to the administration of the
