                        Mission Statement
The mission of Southside Middle School is to provide instruction
that will promote lifelong appreciation and active participation in
the arts.

                        Belief Statements

The Arts develop responsible citizens through cooperation,
collaboration, and self-discipline.

Arts education is an essential part of a quality education that
encourages creativity and life-long learning.

The Arts are a universal language that unite, strengthen, and
benefit students, parents, faculty, and members of the community.

The Arts include all students regardless of socio-economic status
or disabilities.

The Arts create a positive environment that provides motivation
for school attendance and participation.



                              Goals

To develop and integrate a comprehensive standards based arts
program through an aligned and sequential curriculum that meets
the SCVPA Curriculum Standards 2003.
Develop and implement quality professional arts development for
arts specialists, classroom teachers and staff.

To establish, through advocacy and arts education, a positive
relationship with the arts among school leaders, teachers, parents,
students, community and the district.

To provide well-equipped facilities with updated supplies and
materials to support arts instruction.

          standards arts based program through an aligned and
          sequential curriculum that meets the SCVPA Curriculum
          Standards 2003.
