NIU; a photocopy of each valid Illinois teaching
certificate; and a check for $10.00 made payable to
Northern Illinois University.
If you are not a graduate of the NIU M.S. You have two options:
Ed. program in Literacy Education with
an emphasis in Reading: First, you may contact your Regional Office of
Education and have your transcripts evaluated for
the Reading Specialist Endorsement.
Or, you may choose to have NIU evaluate your
transcripts. To do so, You must submit for review in
a single packet: Request for Transcript Evaluation
for Type 10 K-12 Reading Specialist Certificate
form; official copies of all transcripts; a photocopy
of each valid Illinois teaching certificate; and a
check for $60.00 made payable to Northern Illinois

NOTE: Transcript evaluations are generally completed within a six week period.

Along with this Request form, you must submit official transcripts from all institutions you have
attended. In addition, you must include a copy of your teaching certificate(s). Materials must be
submitted at the same time in a single packet.
The fee for transcript evaluation is $10.00 for NIU students / alumni who are either enrolled in a
degree program at NIU or have graduated from one. The processing fee is $60.00 for Non-NIU
candidates. Please include a check or money order payable to Northern Illinois University Reading
Clinic. Materials submitted without the requisite fee will not be evaluated.
