The FTC’s work is performed by the Bureaus of Consumer Protection, Competition and

fraudulent practices. The Bureau enforces a variety of consumer protection laws enacted
by Congress, as well as trade regulation rules issued by the Commission. Its actions
include individual company and industry-wide investigations, administrative and federal
court litigation, rulemaking proceedings, and consumer and business education. In
addition, the Bureau contributes to the Commission’s on-going efforts to inform

The Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC)

The Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC) was established as a partnership between
the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center
(NW3C) to serve as a means to receive Internet related criminal complaints, research,
develop and refer the criminal complaints to law enforcement agencies for any
investigation they deem to be appropriate. Since its inception, the IFCC has received
complaints crossing the spectrum of cyber crime matters, to include on-line fraud in its
many forms, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) matters, Computer Intrusions (hacking),
Economic Espionage (Theft of Trade Secrets), On-line Extortion, International Money
Laundering, Identity Theft and a growing list of Internet facilitated crimes.

System might be able to help you. The Federal Reserve is responsible for carrying out
many of the federal laws that protect consumers in their dealings with financial
institutions. The Board of Governors, located in Washington, D.C., works with the twelve
Federal Reserve Banks around the country to make certain the commercial banks that the
Federal Reserve supervises abide by these laws. We can help individual consumers by:

   * Investigating complaints about specific banks under our supervisory jurisdiction.
