PROGRAM/ELIGIBILITY              The division provides domestic violence services for Los A ngeles County.
                                 Services include a hotline and spousal abuse prevention. There are no geographic
                                 restrictions.

                                 The domestic violence hotline provides information about battered women’s
                                 shelters, TRO’s and gives steps women can take for immediate safely. It also
                                 informs callers about victim’s rights and makes referrals for emergency services
                                 such as food.

LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH     Hotline staff are available who speak Spanish; callers who speak other languages
                                 are referred to other agencies for assistance.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE            Call the hotline for assistance or information.

HOURS                            The hotline operates Monday through Sunday. 24 hours per day.

FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE              There are no fees for services.

PROGRAM/ELIGIBILITY               The program provides a battered women's shelter for battered women with or
                                  without children. There are no age or gender limitations for dependent children.
                                  The shelter will accept pregnant women in any stage of pregnancy, women
                                  involved in prostitution, women with HIV/AIDS, women with mental disabilities
                                  and women who are substance abusers. Women with mental disabilities are
                                  required to be under the care of a psychiatrist. Women with substance abuse
                                  issues must contract to remain clean and sober while in the shelter. Women
                                  cannot continue to work at their present job. The length of stay is four to six
                                  weeks. There are no geographic restrictions however, for safety reasons, the
                                  shelter cannot accept women who are Santa Monica residents.

LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH      Spanish

APPLICATION PROCEDURE             All shelter intake is done through the hotline; women call the hotline to arrange
                                  an appointment. ID is not required.

HOURS                             Intake hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm; the shelter operates
                                  Monday through Sunday, 24 hours per day. Emergency intake may be arranged
                                  through the hotline 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE               There are no fees for services.

PROGRAM/ELIGIBILITY                    The program provides a Christian-oriented shelter and transitional shelter for
                                       single women in Los Angeles County. A downstairs dormitory is available for
                                       battered women. The shelter cannot accommodate people who have alcohol or
                                       drug problems, or who have mental health disabilities. The maximum length of
                                       stay is 10 months. There are no geographic restrictions.

LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH           None

APPLICATION PROCEDURE                  Call to apply; referrals are required. Referring agencies conference the caller
                                       with the intake worker for a phone interview to determine eligibility. State ID
                                       preferred however, other ID may be accepted. Proof of citizenship, legal
                                       residence or income verification may also be requested. During the intake
                                       interview, applicants are required to sign an agreement to follow house rules and
                                       to release the shelter from liability.

HOURS                                  Intake hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm; Saturday, 9:00am to
                                       4:00pm.

FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE                    The program charges a $80 fee for the first month including $50 for fees and $30
                                       for food. After thirty days the fees increase to $110 per month for a single
                                       individual, which includes $75 for fees and $35 for food. Clients who have
                                       income or eligible for public benefits and willing to apply for benefits may be
                                       accepted if they do not have money at the time of entry, however, this is
                                       determined on an individual basis.

PROGRAM/ELIGIBILITY                    The program provides domestic violence services for men, age 18 and older, in
                                       Los Angeles County. Services are provided from four locations and include adult
                                       diversion batterers' groups for court-referred men and anger management
                                       counseling. There are no geographic restrictions. The program offers ongoing
                                       batterers' groups (52 weeks) and anger management counseling (26 weeks) that
                                       meet court requirements. It reports to the courts or Probation Department as
                                       needed.

LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH           Spanish-speaking staff are available at the West Covina and Lawndale locations
                                       only. Korean staff are available at the Brentwood location.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE                  Call for an appointment. Court papers, cash fee and picture ID must be
                                       presented at the individual intake interview which participants must attend before
                                       entering the program.

HOURS                                  Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE                    Fees are set on a sliding scale that ranges from $20 to $40.

                               child abusers including court-ordered individuals, anger management, batterers

                               geographic restrictions. The batterers and child abuse programs meet for two
                               hours a week for 52 weeks. The anger management program meets for two
                               hours a week for 26 weeks. Progress reports are created and submitted to
                               courts upon request of the court.

                               through translators.
