This paved TSD rally takes place in the greater Victoria area on Vancouver Island. It is the first
round of the 3 round Island Novice Rally Series for 2005 organized by the Island Rallysport Club,
which is affiliated with Rally Pacific Motorsports, and the Canadian Association of Rallysport. This
Novice Rally Series follows the 2004 BC TSD Rally Regulations as well as the CARS General
Competition Rules. These can be found at www.rallybc.com or by contacting the IRC Rally Director
Glyn Trafford at gtrafford@shaw.ca or (250) 246-8282.

or equivalent and the driver, navigator and passengers not of the age of majority in British Columbia
shall have written permission of parents or guardian to participate in the event. It is recommended
that teams have a Calculator, Pen, Highlighter, and a Clipboard, as well as a sense of adventure and
enthusiasm

Rally details
The rally, which will be approximately 160km long, will be on choice paved roads near Victoria.
There will be two legs, with a midpoint gas and break stop in Brentwood Bay. Legs are separated into
several Regularities, which are timed sections in which your time of passing will be taken by hidden
checkpoint controls, and Transits, which are untimed sections.
Timing is done by drive-by control positions. They record your time as you pass. Controls will
not be placed within 200m of the beginning or end of a regularity, a STOP, a YIELD, or any
instruction causing the entrants to stop or pause.
Scoring is done by perfect time with 1 penalty point per second late or early. Your goal is to
accurately follow the average speeds instructed to achieve the lowest score possible. The speeds will
always be below the posted limit, and transit sections will allow ample time to reach the next
regularity without breaking the speed limit. The maximum penalty for any given checkpoint is 300
points (5 minutes), to a maximum of 600 points over any single regularity.
Classes are:
      - Novice – Just like it sounds, newcomers not having done more than 3 other rallies.
      - Experienced – Any other rallyist who has done more than 3 events.
Awards will be given to the Novice Class winners, and dash plaques go to all entrants.
