Sony PTV is a 1998 model KP41T65.
The set will not turn on until about the 3rd, or 4th try.
When the picture comes in, it is in from both sides about 2 inches, and
Down from the top, and up from the bottom about 2 inches. After about 5 minutes,
the picture finally fills the screen, but it looks a little milky, or some
what out of focus. They say if it is left on too long, it will shut
off
A can of circuit coolant lead me straight to C655 (2200 ufd. @ 25VDC), on
power supply module. Read about 1650 ufd. when cold, and about 1850 ufd.
after heated up.

Vcc is provided from PIT but no regulator in this line so the voltage varies
by a variation of PIT winding. To verify that we want to know the voltage of

It's supposed to be around 30V. If our assumption is correct then
additional diode in Vcc line will help an IC404 failure. Design will
determine type of diode and the location of the insertion.

Problem look like unit had bad connection on the BC board check pin 7 of
CN306 (Y signal) good, but CN306/pin 12 no luminance out. Checked

14v come from GK board CN605 pin1 . 14v missing found PS601open
replace fixed .
Service manual is wrong Cn 605 pin 1 on the GK board show 5v it
incorrect should be 14v and pin 2 should be 5v

If the need should arise that a circuit board needs to be replaced, It might
contain an EEPROM. If the EEPROM data is not written into the EEPROM
of the replacement board all the service or customer adjustments will be
lost. Example: Convergence adjustments. This will then require additional
time to re-converge a projection TV.
RESOLUTION
Refer to SB GENTVP E08921219 for NVM Jig connections. Also refer to
the NVM Instruction Manual for operating instructions E16415167 or TV
SB449. The I/M will not address all chassis since it was written prior to
RA-6 and DA4 chassis. The SB E08921219 contains the settings for all
chassis.

CAUSE
Red drive too high. Red G2 voltage cannot be adjusted properly. Running
red G2 through its normal range causes red to jump from blanked to
retrace.
RESOLUTION
Replaced C315 red S/H cap. Cap measured OK with capacitor checker,
but substituting C315 resolved the problem. Cap was causing excessive
red drive.

DAMAGED PIX TUBES
SYMPTOMS
A dab of what appears to be a clear silicon compound is applied to the
junction of the CRT pins and sockets, to prevent the C boards from getting
loose, it seems like the new models are receiving an excessive application
of this compound making it very difficult to remove the C boards for
service. When tech use a blade to cut exposed portion, enough of this
compound has penetrated in front of the socket, preventing a gentle
separation from the tube causing the frequent rupture of the CRT tip.
HQ: Pittsburgh will reduce this compound to prevent this damage.

While in Ik blanking the screen would intermittently flash on and off with a
bright cyan raster about every 15 seconds, or it might just stay blank. All
three Ik pulses looked normal. Sound was normal.

Replace D763 10v 1/2 watt zener located off of IC761/pin 5 on the Blue
CRT drive board. For testing purposes, lift one end of diode to see if
restores operation. Our diode tested good with an ohm meter. This same
diode is used on red & green CRT boards, D708 and D733. Lifting one
end of D763 doesn't correct problem, you can try this same test for D708
and D733.
