There is one thing I've learned about Bible prophecy. Take it literal until proven otherwise. What do I mean by this open ended statement? Let me explain. The Book of Revelation tells us about some very unusual things that will happen to our moon and sun in the end-time. Revelation 6:12 reads 'When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake and the sun became black as sackcloth and the full moon become like blood . . . ' I've always read Bible passages that say the moon will turn red and the sun will be darkened with symbolism in mind, however, I have recently discovered that this may not be true. N.A.S.A. (the National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has a database of all solar and lunar eclipses for the past 5000 years as well as a database of the solar and lunar eclipses for the next 2000 years. Almighty God is a scientist. Yep, you read that right. God is not only a scientist, He is a master mathematician and was very precise when he laid out the heavenly bodies (Genesis 1:14). Because of this fact, NASA is capable of going through thousands of years of 'Heavenly Happenings' and extrapolating this information and placing this information in a database, recording when solar and lunar eclipses occurred in the past and when they will occur in the future.
Genesis 1:14 reads 'And God said, let there be light in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years . . . ' The Hebrew word 'signs' in this Bible passage is translated from the word 'oth' and means 'a signal' for God's coming or appearing. This is amazing because this Bible verse
is in the very first book of the Bible which means God began His end-time prophecy just as he was creating the world! The word 'seasons' in Genesis 1:14 also has some interesting facts attached to it. Typically, when we read the word seasons, we think about Spring, Summer, Fall Winter. This is not what Genesis 1:14 is referring to, however. The 'seasons' of Genesis 1:14 refer directly to the Feasts of the Messiah or in a literal translation, 'a Divine Appointment'. This Divine Appointment is like God's Day Timer. Genesis 1:14 really is saying that God is marking his Day Timer for different heavenly occurrences that announce or signal His appearance. And what is a signal? A signal is some kind of action that must be watched for. This is very cool. And that's not all. Keep reading. It gets even better! Because God was so precise with his own Day Timer, historians have been able to use solar and lunar eclipses to accurately determine when a particular historical event occurred based on that historical event occurring at the same time as a solar eclipse or a blood red lunar eclipse. Futurists can also look forward in time and predict when a solar and lunar eclipse will occur based on God's Holy Day Timer. For example, there will be a solar and lunar eclipse in the year 2014 and 2015. And, believe it or not, these eclipses occur on Jewish Holy Days AND in a Jewish Holy Sabbatical Year of 2014 and 2015 (Jewish calendar year begins and ends in September). In the Sabbatical Year of 2014 - 1015, there will be four blood red lunar eclipses; * * * * Feast Feast Feast Feast of of of of Passover, April 15, 2014 Tabernacles, October 8, 2014 Passover April 4, 2015 Tabernacles, September 28, 2015
Looking at these dates on a Gregorian calendar reveals no pattern, however, looking at the Jewish calendar (God's Holy Day Timer), you do see a pattern. On each one of these Jewish Holy Days, a blood red lunar eclipse occurs. This is a hint from God that He wants us to look at his Biblical calendar to watch for these 'signs and seasons'. He does not want us using a 'man made calendar'. It is imperative that we not only know 'when' to be watching but 'what' to be watching as well. So there are four blood red lunar eclipses in the years 2014 and 2015. Big Whopdi Do. Ah, but check this out. Astronomers call four back to back, blood red lunar eclipses a 'Tetrad'. These 'Tetrad's'. don't happen
every year. In fact, in this 21st century, these four blood red moons only occur on the above referenced holy Jewish holidays. No more blood red moons are to occur after the year 2015. In the 20th century, the most recent time blood red moons occurred was in 1967 - 1968. The year 1967 is when Israel recaptured Jerusalem, i.e., Israel's Six Day War! AND these blood red moons occurred on Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles. So far, it is apparent that the Lord is marking His Day Timer with dates that He feels are special. So what are these special dates? Let's take a look. In 1949 - 1950, the Feast of Passover and Tabernacles both experienced these blood red lunar eclipses. These dates directly follow one of the most important Bible Prophecies, the reconstitution of the nation of Israel. Prior to 1949, there were no blood red lunar eclipses until the 1500's, however, none of these eclipses in the 1500s fell on a Jewish holy day. The next blood red lunar eclipse was right after Columbus sailed to the new world in 1492. In 1493 - 1494 when the Jews were booted from Spain, again, the blood red lunar eclipses occurred on the Feast of Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles. It is significant to note that Passover is the first of the seven Feasts and the Feast of Tabernacles is the seventh and final feast. So what God is doing is placing a symbolic 'parenthesis' around this time frame pointing directly at something in his Day Timer that everyone should know about and be watching for. Now, if all these blood red moon eclipses occurred on Jewish holy days and marked by God as being significant events in his Day Timer, then what can we expect in the future for solar eclipses also prophesied in Revelation 6:12? Hold on to your coffee cups! It's just as amazing! On Adar 29 leading into Nisan 1 on March 20, 2014, there will be a full solar eclipse. The reason why Nisan 1 is significant is that Nisan 1 marks the beginning of the Jewish festival cycle. Six months after Nisan 1 on September 13, 2015, a solar eclipse will occur on Rosh Hashanah, the Feast of Trumpets. This date in God's Day Timer is important not only for Jews but the rest of the Gentile world as it is said to be the anniversary of the creation of Adam. Think about this for
a moment. If there isn't going to be any more of these eclipses for the remainder of the century, a solar eclipse on the Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) could precede the Second Coming of Christ in power and great glory, and fulfill the Biblical prophecy. So this is what we will see in 2014 - 2015: * A blood red lunar eclipse on April 15, 2014 (Feast of Passover) * A blood red lunar eclipse on October 8, 2014 (Feast of Tabernacles) * A solar eclipse on March 20, 2015 (Adar 29/Nisan 1) * A blood red lunar eclipse on April 4, 2015 (Feast of Passover) * Solar eclipse on September 13, 2015 (Feast of Trumpets) * A blood red lunar eclipse on September 28, 2015 (Feast of Tabernacles) Take a look at all the eclipses occurring in 2015. This is significant, especially looking at the past occurrences and knowing that there will not be anything like this the remainder of this century. What are the odds of all these ecliptic happenings occurring on Jewish holy days? I never did well in any kind of math but I've got enough common sense to know the odds would go against anything like chance. These eclipses have to be divinely scheduled. So if there are all these eclipses in 2015 and the year 2015 is a Sabbatical year (final year in a Jewish seven year cycle), and we know that the Bible teaches of a seven year period in which world events really start popping directly before the Battle of Armageddon, then lets take a look at the eclipses seven years prior to 2015. Holy Buckets, that's this year; 2008! Coming up this summer, there will be the first of three solar eclipses on the day that introduces the first of Av (August 1, 2008). That’s right, all three solar eclipses will be on the biblical date of Av 1, for the next three years -- 2008, 2009, and 2010. The Gregorian calendar dates for these solar eclipses are: * August 1, 2008 * July 22, 2009 * July 11, 2010 In the Jewish calendar, these solar eclipses are all on the first of Av, the day when Jews lament the destruction of their temples. As the story goes, Moses caught the people worshiping the Golden Calf on Tammuz 17. Therefore, the three weeks from Tammuz 17 to Av 9 are called “the dark time” and “between the straits.” It is the most sorrowful time of the year
for Jews. From Av 1-9, no bathing is allowed; no comforts; no clean clothes; the Jew takes his shoes off; sits on an overturned chair and reads the book of Lamentations. No Disney World vacation during this time! Another important note is that Jewish tradition dictates that a solar eclipse was designed by God for the Gentile world and lunar eclipses were designed by God for the people of Israel. Knowing this, August 1st of 2008, which falls in 'the dark time' doesn't look like it will be a banner day for the Gentiles. Look for a major world event to happen on or right around August 1st, 2008. The solar and lunar eclipses in 2015 are especially significant when taking into account Bible prophecy. Ezekiel Chapter 40 and Zechariah Chapter 14 both prophesy that the Day of the Lord will be between September 13 and September 28, 2015! O.K. A direct correlation between God's Day Timer and eclipses have been made and they all point to Jesus Christ and His second coming. So what? So what if all these eclipses are occurring on Jewish holy days. Remember, these eclipses are signals to what is in God's Day Timer; past AND Future dates. We are talking prophecy here! Some may argue that Bible prophecy is a waste of time because Jesus says in Matthew 24:36 says that 'no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.' Before explaining this passage, let's take a look at several other Bible scriptures that say something very similar to what Jesus is speaking about in Matthew. Then I'll come back and explain Matthew 24:36 and how it relates to the Jewish mindset. In Revelation Chapter 3, the Apostle John is recording a letter addressed to the Church in Sardis which was dictated to him from Jesus. Jesus tells the Church in Sardis that they HAD the 'reputation of being alive, but you are dead'. Then Jesus clearly tells the Church in Sardis in Revelation 3:3 to WAKE UP!. 'Remember then, what you received and heard. Keep it and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.' In other words, Jesus only comes as a thief to a 'dead church'. If a church and its members are watching and doing what was taught, the coming of Jesus will not be as a thief trying to sneak up on and stealing away what was previously earned. Later on when Jesus is writing the Church in Laodicea, which is the luke warm church, Christ tells the Laodicean Church in Revelation 3:18 'I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of
your nakedness may not be seen and salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.' The garments are the white garments that priests wore in the Temple of Jerusalem. Jesus speaks in Revelation 16:15 and warns 'Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!' What exactly does this walking around in your birthday suit have to do with thieves running around trying to take your stuff? Herein lies a fact that not many know. In Biblical times past, the High Priest and the Captain of the Guard were known as 'a thief in the night'. In the temple, there were several different posts that priests were to stand and watch to ensure that the altar fires did not go out. As commanded by God, they were to stay lit. So the priests on duty at these designated posts were to be watching and making sure that these 'holy altar fires' did not go out. Now here's the interesting part. If the Captain of the Guard came upon a priest at his post and that priest was sleeping on duty, the Captain of the Guard would take a torch (lit from the altar fire) and set the priestly garments on fire. The priest would suddenly awake and realize that he was on fire and run through the temple stripping his priestly garments off so that he would not be burned alive! Here's another way to look at this; if you are not watching, you will get burned. In 1 Thessalonians 5:1-2 Paul writes to the church of Thessalonia 'Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.' a reference to the second coming of Jesus Christ is made symbolically as 'a thief in the night'. Paul continues in verse 4 'But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.' Meaning that the church is not a 'dead church' but a church that knows how to watch and a church that knows the Biblical Calendar which is God's Day Timer. Another example that Jesus gives to be watchful of his coming is in Matthew Chapter 25. In this parable, Jesus talks about 10 virgins. Five wise and five foolish. When it comes time for the 10 virgins to light their lamps, the five foolish virgins did not bring any extra oil so they try to bum some off the five wise virgins. The five wise virgins say 'Forget it. Go find some of your own.' At the conclusion of this parable, the five foolish virgins come before the Lord and the Lord speaks in Matthew 25:12 'Truly, I say to you I do not know you. Watch therefore for you know neither the day nor the hour.' Jesus is speaking to the foolish virgins,
NOT the wise virgins. Jesus commands the foolish to WATCH! Pay Attention! Get the fog out of your eyeballs, the peanut butter out of your ears and WATCH! Want some more proof that Jesus commands us to pay attention AND if we do pay attention, we will not miss out on the prophetic news happening every day? Go to Luke 12:35-48 and read about the Good Servants and the Evil Servants. In Luke 12:39, Jesus says 'But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into.' Jesus is speaking to the servants that were NOT watching. He gave a blessing to those servants that WERE watching (Luke 12:38). Then Peter asks Jesus ' are you telling this parable for just us or for all?' Jesus then explains to Peter in Luke 12:43 'Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes'. In other words a blessing for those good servants that are watching. Then Jesus says of those servants that decide that the master has been delayed and begin mistreating other members of the masters house, 'the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful.' Jesus is very clear here on what's going to happen to those servants that are not watching. The unwatchful servants get their own beating! Now that we have ruled out these other Bible verses and how they don't really apply to no one knowing the hour of the second coming, I can say with confidence that Matthew 25:36 is referencing a Jewish wedding. In a Jewish wedding, a father would ensure that his son had everything prepared and ready for the wedding. If anyone were to ask the 'bridegroom' when is the wedding day, the bridegroom would always reply, 'Ask my father. Only my father knows.' This has always been a traditional, Jewish response. Also the Jewish holy day of the Feast of Trumpets was known as the feast where no one knew the day or the hour because this holy day was based on the new moon. Because no one knows the day or the hour, the Feast of Trumpets was (and still is) kept as a two day Feast. Reason being, the Jewish day begins and ends at sundown. If the Jewish holy day is observed from sundown to sundown of the next day, then everyone was asleep when the new moon appeared and the knowledge of the new moon would not be known until the next morning. So the Feast of Trumpets was kept as one long day until the following sundown and the ending of this Feast.
So here's how to look at this. Let's say I told you I was coming to see you, however, I did not tell you on what day. I did, however, give you a little clue on what day that would be. That clue was three words; 'Gobble, Gobble, Gobble'. What day do you suppose I would be coming to visit you? Bingo, Thanksgiving!. This is exactly what Jesus was doing when he tells us in Matthew 25:36 that no one knows what hour. He was giving us a clue. He will be returning on the Feast of Trumpets of a said year. Now read 1 Thessalonians 5:1-2 again. Paul is saying here that the Thessalonians have been given all the information they need to diligently watch for the 'Day of the Lord' and because they have all this information, the return of Jesus will not sneak up on them as a thief would. If the Thessalonians had all the information they needed to watch, then it would be logical that all of us today also have the information to be on a constant, faithful, unrelenting watch, never giving in to the worlds time clock (Thessalonians 5:3) but always watching God's Day Timer (Thessalonians 5:4-7). If we do that, we will know the approximate time of the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians Chapter 5 says that the Day of the Lord will not overtake the watching church like a thief in the night. Only the dead church or those not watching will be overtaken by the second coming of Jesus Christ. What a blessed hope given directly to us by the Lord Jesus Christ!
