Gillespie Named one of the top three producers in Texas by USA Today, Fredericksburg
Winery is owned and operated by the Switzer family. Wine making is 75% art and
25% science, and we like creating masterpieces. Our wines are produced the old

dry, medium sweet and sweet – and even one-step further – late harvest desserts.
Wait – two-steps further – Port and Sherry! Come do “Wine 101 (WHP)” and get
the real scoop. Visit our Web site for further explanation. Our new wine club, the

Real Owner Kit Detering took the California concept of a country spa/resort, and gave
it a Texas twist: Strip away the froufrou frills and replace them with the down-
home friendliness and simple flair that is Texas. The result: a delightful retreat
where you can enjoy healthful food, exercise, and solitude in a laid-back,
unpretentious ranch setting. Brilliant! Detering chose the name “Hart & Hind”
from the Old English names for buck and doe. The name is perfect, for this is a
place equally comfortable for men and women. Furthermore, it is populated with
native wildlife that includes white-tailed deer. And finally, the name suggests the
dedication to the rejuvenation of body and soul that is the essence of a vacation
here Inside this chapter you'll find detailed information on accommodations,
meals, activities, amenities, nearby attractions, directions, and contact information

is located on 1,200 acres, and is owned by the San Antonio Water System. The

haven where people come together for memory-making experiences in nature that
inspire a lifelong commitment to conservation. Mitchell Lake is especially
important as a refuge site because of its habitat for migrating shorebirds, which
utilize the mudflats for critical food resources. Of the more than 300 bird species
documented at Mitchell Lake, more than 30 are on Audubon's WatchList -- a list
designed specifically to highlight bird species with the greatest conservation needs.

BANDERA Here at BugScuffle Ranch, we believe that bow hunting is much more challenging
than rifle hunting, due to the requirement of having to be up close and personal
with the animals. BugScuffle is a fully functional bow huntin ranch that has large
assortment of native and wild game. New blood is regularly introduced into the
exotic herds that improve the quality of the animals. The BugScuffle Ranch is
2,000 acres with many canyons and natural springs. The property is high fenced
with a secure entrance gate. The hunting lodge is right off the main highway for
easy access and can lodge 8 hunters.

BLANCO In November 2002 Dos Lagos Ranch began trophy white-tailed deer hunting for
the first time. The ranch has been under high fence and intense white-tailed deer
herd management since 1998 and is booking a limited number of hunts each year.
Trophy white-tailed deer genetics (both does and bucks) were introduced to the
ranch and the native white-tailed deer eliminated, thus insuring tremendous antler
potential. Our breeder bucks came from sires scoring 170 to 210 B&C and the
does are from big south Texas game ranches.
