2008 Christmas Assistance List
This list is provided as a community service. Spokane County United Way does not
manage or administer these programs or services. We have attempted to provide as
accurate information as possible as it was received from the community agencies.
Individuals having questions about any of the information listed below should
contact the agency directly, at the phone number provided with the agency listing.

East Central Community Center, 500 S. Stone, Spokane, WA 99202 (509) 625-6699
(located on the corner of 5th and Stone) will have a free Christmas Dinner on December 13
from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Children can meet Santa Claus and will receive a gift. Raffle
tickets are now available and are FREE. Stop by the center Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m. to receive a raffle ticket. Tickets will not be given out on the day of the event. We will
also be distributing Christmas Dinners on December 22 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 p.m.
St. Ann's Catholic Church, 2120 E. First, 535-3031. The Neighborhood Sunday Lunch
program will be serving a Christmas meal on December 21, at 1:00 p.m. It is free and open to
2008 CHRISTMAS BUREAU
The Christmas Bureau is funded by donors to The Spokesman-Review Christmas Fund and is
administered by Catholic Charities of Spokane and Volunteers of America. The Christmas
Bureau provides gifts and food to those who are in need.
To Receive Gifts:

The 2008 Spokesman Review Christmas Bureau will be open on the following days December
10 to December 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day -- EXCEPT SUNDAYS. The
Christmas Bureau is located at the Spokane County Fair/Expo Center at 404 N. Havana Street
(corner of Broadway/Havana, Spokane Valley)
Applicants must apply in person on one of the dates above, and bring the following:
-- Photo ID for each adult over the age of 18 living in the home.
-- Proof of current residence for each adult, such as your most recent utility bill or rent receipt
(for Nov/Dec 2008)
-- Proof of each child living at your address, such as medical coupons or a letter from a social
service agency or school on their letterhead with the child's name and current address.
PLEASE NOTE: A Social Security card is NOT an acceptable proof of identification.
Each household will receive a food voucher for a local grocery store. A gift, a book and a bag
of candy will be given to each child living in the home (age 17 and younger).
To send monetary donations to the Christmas Bureau:
Donations may be sent to The Spokesman-Review Christmas Fund, P.O. Box 516, Spokane, WA
99210; delivered to the lobbies of Spokesman-Review offices in downtown Spokane (999 W. Riverside
Ave.), Spokane Valley (13208 E. Sprague Ave.) or Coeur d’Alene (608 Northwest Blvd., Suite 200).
TOYS FOR TOTS
(KHQ-6 TV and the United States Marine Corps)
TO RECEIVE TOYS: For children age 12 and under.
Apply over the phone beginning December 1 by calling any of the
following phone numbers, between 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday. Phone lines are closed on Saturday/Sunday. These
numbers are staffed by volunteers, and phone lines may be
extremely busy. ALL CALLS ARE PROCESSED ON A "FIRST-
COME, FIRST SERVE" BASIS.

To Pick Up Toys:
Families who sign-up for gifts will be given a ticket number and may pick up their gifts at the
Toys for Tots warehouse when their request has been completed. No walk-in applications.
Find out which gifts (via ticket numbers) are ready to be picked up by watching KHQ Local
News at 5:00 and 6:00 on TV, or by checking the information at www.khq.com. The pick-up
center is open Monday thru Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,
Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for pick-ups only. No walk-in applications are accepted.
Toys for Tots Warehouse Address:
315 E. Francis (near Francis/Astor)
The last date to pick up toys is Dec 24th by Noon. The warehouse is closed after that.
To Donate Toys:
The most needed toys are usually for age’s Birth - 2, and ages 10 -12. Anyone wanting to
donate to Toys For Tots can leave new, unwrapped toys at any city fire station, at the KHQ
Broadcast Center at 1201 W. Sprague Avenue, in downtown Spokane, Walmart stores, and
Toys R Us.
