Preparing For A Job Interview
Purpose:
This lesson is design to teach students how to be prepared for a job interview and give
general knowledge of the interview process.
Objectives:
Upon completion of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Determine the importance of first impressions.
2. Demonstrate proper handshaking methods, proper introductions, and proper
posture.
3. Determine proper attire.
4. Answer interview questions in a professional manner.

A. Job interview purpose
a. It provides an opportunity for you to sell yourself verbally to the employer
on why you are the best applicant for the job.
B. Questions to research
a. What services or products does the company provide?
b. Who are the company’s customers?
c. Who are the key personnel?
d. Where are the company headquarters, plants, etc?
e. What are the specific duties of the job applied for?
f. What is the name of the interviewer?
g. How profitable is the company?

a. Newspaper or magazine
b. Brochures
c. Internet website

D. Interview prep suggestions
a. Be neat and well groomed.
i. Elaborate on the issue of good hygiene (Brush teeth, use soap,
wear deodorant)
b. Dress appropriate for the type of job

Guided Practice
Divide class into groups and have them interview each other.
Independent Practice
Have students come up with original interview questions and share them with the
class. Then have the students tell how they would answer them.
