Volunteer Education
Pre-Event Education
Topical education web pages were developed and posted on the SOLV website. Volunteers who registered online were provided a link to the education
web pages. Topics included Illegal Dumping; Non-Native, Invasive Plants; Native Plants; and Marine Debris.
Day-of-Event Education
Project plans were provided to SOLV IT event coordinators (teachers and community project leaders), and they were encouraged to implement the
plans as part of their projects to educate day-of-event volunteers. The four sets of project plans focused on Illegal Dumpsites and Litter; Non-Native,
Invasive Plants; Planting Native Trees/Plants; and monitoring and maintenance of watershed restoration sites.

Post Event Education
SOLV distributed GardenSmart Guides to event coordinators, who then distributed them to day-of-event volunteers. The guides include information on
invasive, non-native vegetation and offer recommendations for alternative native plants that they may plant on their own properties.

Volunteer Evaluations
Post-event volunteer surveys were sent to community event coordinators, teachers, and episodic volunteers to gather information about their volunteer
experience. Results from these surveys will help SOLV make improvements in future event planning and implementation.
