FAMILY ATTELABIDAE (Leaf-rolling weevils)
J. McNamara Three species of Attelabidae occur in Canada. The females form rolls from leaves and lay a single egg in each roll. The larvae feed on the inner part of the roll. A key and descriptions of the Canadian species of Attelabidae should be published by Bright in the Handbook series "The Insects and Arachnids of Canada". The classification used here follows that of Hamilton (1969) who revised the North American species; unfortunately, his thesis work has not been published.
