					                   Jodi Seitlin has been a passionate child advocate since 1985 when she first
became a Guardian Ad Litem volunteer in her hometown of Miami, Florida. As she grew
familiar with the juvenile dependency and related legal systems in place at that time, Jodi
became convinced that as an attorney, she could make a significant contribution to
improving the lives of children in state care. Graduating from the University of Miami School
of Law with her J.D. in 1990, Jodi became an Assistant State Attorney, and for the next
several years prosecuted in central and northeast Florida, always maintaining her interest
and focus on ensuring justice for women and children. In 1999, Jodi became Assistant District
Legal Counsel in Child Welfare Legal Services for the Department of Children and Families. As
a trial lawyer in Seventh and Fourth Judicial Circuit Courts representing the Department in
Dependency and Termination of Parental Rights actions, Jodi was often the only individual who
remained a constant in the lives of dependent children rotating through foster care. She
represented the Department at Child Protection Team staffings, as a member of the Mental
Health and "Crossover Kids" subcommittees for the Dependency Court Improvement Project in
District 12.

In 2006, Jodi went into private practice, partly to increase her involvement in community
service and legal affairs. The Seitlin Law Firm, P.A. provides legal services in all matters
relating to families and children; specializing in areas of Dependency, Adoptions, Paternity,
Dissolution of Marriage, Domestic Violence, and Criminal matters through trial and related
appeals. Jodi began supporting Florida’s Children First in 2006 by serving as a Host
Committee Member and on FCF’s Local Advisory Board. She is active in the Florida Bar’s
Family Law Section, serving on the Children’s Issues Committee, Keeping Children Safe Act
Subcommittee, Subcommittee on Child Support in Domestic Violence Cases. She currently
serves as Co-Chair of the Domestic Violence Committee within the Family Law Section of the
Florida Bar, developing legislative reform to address the increased risk of death posed to
domestic violence victims and their children where firearms are involved. As a newer member
of the Florida Bar Legal Needs of Children Committee, she is currently working on legislative
reform to address a child’s right to legal representation. Jodi has served as Vice President of
Professional Development for the Jacksonville Women Lawyers’ Association, is a Barrister in
the of the Florida Family Law Inns of Court; serves as Chair of the Special Needs of Children
Committee of the Jacksonville Bar Association, and began the ProBonoForJaxKids Project in
Jacksonville, Florida in 2008. She served on the Children's Advocacy Center of Volusia County
Board of Directors as Secretary. Jodi is active in Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization
of America and has served as President of the Jacksonville Chapter. As a Member of
Hadassah National Attorneys Councils, Jodi was admitted to practice before the United States
Supreme Court in 2003. She is an Adjunct Professor at Florida Coastal School of Law teaching
Florida Divorce Practice & Procedure.
