Chamber’s New Website Perfect Example of Why …
Business Review October 2005
“You Never Have to Leave Your Business to Receive Value from the Chamber”
The new Chamber website connects you to all members, commu-
nity and local resources to help enhance your business, averaging
more than 160,000 hits per month with over 35,000 web referrals
to our members. The Chamber works hard in the area of promot-
ing www.gilbertaz.com as the “yellow pages” of Gilbert by linking
to hundreds of search engines.
The Chamber website will keep you connected to the events
happening each month with the Chamber and the community.

Deciding Which Legal Form of Business is Best for You
To do this, an analysis of the various legal and tax-related implications associated with
the forms of business structure must be conducted. In Arizona, as in all states, several busi-
ness structures exist. The four most common are the sole proprietorship, general and limit-
ed partnerships, limited liability partnership, and corporation. The state also recog-
nizes a limited liability partnership among others.
Limited Liability Partnership Chairman’s Express
Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) permits investors to become partners without assuming
unlimited liability. There must be at least one general partner, who retains unlimited liabil-
ity. A general partner may be a corporation. If it is a corporation, there are certain feder-
al tax law requirements to be considered, but a corporate general partner limits liability.
Limited partners usually risk only their investment in the business.
Limited partners may not participate in active management of the business, or they run
the risk of forfeiting their limited partner status and thus their limited liability.
LLP is a recent form of business entity in Arizona. For additional information regarding
an LLP contact an attorney or Maricopa County Bar Association at (602) 257-4200.
• Limited liability for investors • Unlimited liability for general partner
• Relative ease in raising capital • Lack of clear legal precedent
• For the principal, it provides • Limited partners have less input in manage-
freedom of decision-making ment than shareholders in a corporation
since limited partners have little
or no say in operational decisions.
• Limited Partnership is not taxed
separately from limited or general partners Silver

Office Safety Tip Bronze
• Before you lift, look around the area. Decide
where you will put the load and check the Copper
path for obstructions.
• Then stand with your feet about shoulder-
width apart, one foot slightly ahead of the
other. A firm stance helps your balance dur-
ing lifting. Arch your back inward and maintain
the inward lower curve of your back with muscle power. Tuck in your chin
in and stick out your chest to arch your back; then squat down to the load.
• Grasp the load securely. Test the load before lifting to get a feel for its
weight. Keeping your chin tucked, lift smoothly with your legs. Don’t lift with
a quick pull!
• Keep the load close and remember to maintain the inward curve of your
lower back. Rendering by Barry Eline

Out of Sight Guy”
Blind since the early 1970’s, Larry Colbert will share
his experiences with losing the natural sense of vision,
and the resulting knowledge that comes from having to

humorous examples, he talks of the importance of self-
knowledge, setting goals and coping with continual
change in the marketplace and in the workplace. Larry
will also speak about the importance of keeping a “clear
