ERW Meeting February 3, 2005 The ERW meeting’s focus for February 3, 2005, was on the Pill Interface project. The project is being conducted by Stan Ruecker, Lisa Given, Bess Sadler, and Andrea Ruskin, with programming support from Mike Plouffe. Stan presented the interface to attendees, focusing on how the interface works for identifying pills, specifically through sorting images of pills by colour and shape. Discussion centred on various design and user issues, and several possible improvements were identified. Some topics for possible change or needed additions were: Print (text) on pills to be displayed bigger or with more emphasis, or as vector graphic Random page should be reorganized by colour or shape, without headings List by as many colours as necessary (pills could go in more than one place) Make ‘multicolour’ a category Flip pills front or back, or more generally: Allow various representations: front, back, side view, vector or contour Additional Sort options General condition pill prescribed for Trade name or generic name Therapeutic class Pills that have text printed on them or no text Contours and cut marks Add Warning: “colour may vary slightly from monitor to monitor” NB Remove unnecessary keyline under titles when gridlines are turned on White gridlines on gray background are aesthetically pleasing Other Potential Uses of this kind of Interface Conference navigation (Maryanne Wynne) Face linked to presentation time o link to pager o Link to bios, bibliographies Stock photography sites (Constanza Pacher) A version for pharmacists: visual but including DIN etc. In Attendance Maryanne Wynne; Constanza Pacher; Alethea Adair; Dave Laurie; Oksana Cheypesh; Sandra Gabriele; Karl Anvik; Stan Ruecker; Melissa Schlachter
