We hope that you will find this guide of useful information practical for the next meetings to
be held in the headquarters of the Inter-American Development Bank from October 29 th to
31st .

The agendas of each seminar are available on our website: www.iadb.org/mif under events.
Please read carefully the information submitted.


1.   Registration

fill in the information required. In order to do this, you will need to have already booked
accommodation since we need to include in the registration form where you are
accommodated.

The registration for this event is free and only for those who were invited.

The number of participants is limited to one person per project, except for those who have
regional character, in that case a maximum of 3 persons can participate.

Registrations will be confirme d to the email address provided during the registration.

If you don’t receive the confirmation, please contact us before traveling to the
confe rence. Registrations will be confirmed by September 30th


2.   Visas

With the aim of avoiding any setback, ask the embassy of the US in your country about visa
requirements and others.

For the process of visa application, if you require so, you can contact us at
clusterevent@iadb.org indicating in the subject VISA and to which workshop you are
attending. Please include the following information in the email: full name, position,
institution in which you are working and address of the institution. With this information,
we can prepare an official personal letter of invitation to the workshop to be presented to the
Embassy of the US in your country.

To obtain a visa is the responsibility of participants and its cost is not covered by MIF.

3.   Venue of the event

Both of the meetings will take place in the headquarters of the Bank: 1330 New York Ave.
NW. 20577 Washington, DC.


4.   Registration of Participants

The activities will take place in diffe rent rooms of the buildings of the Inte r-Ame rican
Development Bank so that it is recommended to be punctual to receive the orientation
instructions needed.

Registration and welcoming of the participants will be held o n Monday 29 October 2007
from 8:00 am. for those who start to participate that day; and from Tuesday 30 October 2007
from 8:00 am. for those who start to participate that day.

At this time you will have to sign up in the working group in which you want to participate.
The agenda is annexed for you to analyze it before this day.


5.   Resources

The meeting will have a plenary room and rooms for group work with the basic equipments.
We will also have a service of simultaneous interpretation (Spanish-English, English-
Spanish) only during the plenary meetings.

MIF offers lunches, as well as coffee and breakfast services throughout the workshop. In
addition, there will be a cocktail on the evening of the 29 th .


6.   Financing:

Each participant will be in charge of buying his ticket and booking the hotel.

The costs of participation, travel and stay, have to be defrayed by each assistant. To register
follow the indications included in this document.

Each participant will be responsible of the costs of no-s hows (if you don’t attend or
don’t cancel with anticipation you will have to pay the cost incurred).

In the case of the Project Coordinators, the corresponding costs to finance the assistance
(air travel in economic class and 3 hotel nights) will have to be refunded for each project of
the similar categories. Please contact the Representation of the country concerning the
project to facilitate this procedure.

In the case of the MIF Specialists at Country Offices, the participation costs, travel and
stay have to be defrayed by your offices.


7.   Accommodation

For your comfort, some rooms have been pre-booked in different hotels of the city and are
detailed below.

You can book directly by email to the establishment chosen indicating the group or event
reference to obtain the agreed price. Please note that this price is available as long as there
are rooms, but no later than September 20 th and doesn’t include the breakfast.

Each participant will be in charge of buying his tickets and booking the hotel with his
own credit card. MIF will not be in a position to assist the participants or s pecial guests
with the hotel booking and air travel. Also, you can send your queries to

8.   General information about Washington City

The City of Washington DC, is the capital of the United States of North America, it has a
metropolitan area of 5.4 millions of inhabitants (2006) and is formed by 7 counties in
Maryland, 5 counties in Virginia and 6 counties in Virginia.

Washington, DC; is a tourist city and headquarter of many important industries that include
business associations, legal institutions, universities, medical research centers, government
offices and multilateral organizations.

At that time of the year the climate is comprised betwee n 50/10 and 68/20 degrees,
respectively Fahrenheit and Celsius. Likewise, we recommend that you bring a sweater to be
used in the workshop rooms, due to the air conditioning.

8.1.   Airport

The city of Washington DC, has three airports:

         The National Ronald Reagan Airport of the city of Washington, DC is located in
         the county of Arlington, Virginia, only 4 miles from the center of the city of
         Washington, DC and is accessible by metro.

         The International Dulles Airport of the city of Washington, DC, is located in
         Dulles, Virginia; approximately 6 miles from the center de Washington, DC.

         The Inte rnational Airport of Baltimore is located in Linthicum in the county of
         Maryland; approximately 30 miles north of the District of Columbia.

8.2.   Dressing

Due to the type of the event, dress code is recommended to be formal. There is a cocktail
foreseen for the participants of the event on the evening of the 29th October in the
commodities of the Inter-American Development Bank, at the main atrium, in schedule
7:00pm to 9:00 pm.


8.3.   Voltage

The voltage of the country is 110 volts. The electrical devices that operate with 220-240
volts require energy converters or adaptors.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND

     Every participant has to book and buy his flight and hotel accommodation by
      himself

     Potential “No-shows” and related costs are in the responsibility of every
      participant. If the cancellation is not taken within the defined timef rame the
      participant has to pay the occurred expenses. MIF is not in a position to
      compensate for those expenses.

     It is in every participant’s own responsibility to have an appropriate Visa.
      Related costs are not covered by MIF.

     The activities take place in diffe rent conference rooms within the buildings that
      are occupied by the Inter-Ame rican Development Bank. It is recomme nded to
      be punctual for to get the necessary orientation instructions.

     At the first day it is recommended to arrive at the Bank by 8.00 am to confirm
      your inscription and receive the materials.
