Broward County
The Children’s Services Council of Broward County has brought together a large and diverse
cross section of the community to spread the word about the Earned Income Tax Credit, this
largely “unknown” credit. It has launched and paid for a media campaign to let people know that
there were free tax assistance sites available to help residents file their returns. In 2003, EITC
earnings in Broward were up by $30 million. So in two years, the EITC public awareness
campaign helped bring an additional $47.3 million to Broward County.
