Construction in 2005: from foundations to steel skeleton
Construction work is well and truly underway on ROSADA. Whatever the weather, the crew of building company Strabag continues to drive in the piles for the foundations on which ROSADA will be built. Work is only interrupted when there's a genuine storm and it becomes too dangerous to work. This hasn't happened often, as the rapid progress with the project shows. More than a third of the 900 piles are already in place. So it won't be long before the entire foundations have been laid. At the moment there are many men working on the site. But most of the work at this stage is being done by machines. Once the foundations are laid and the steel structures are assembled, it will be possible to proceed with several activities simultaneously, such as building the gable walls, installing the technical facilities and building the roads. By then the place will be a hive of activity. The steel structure for building A will be assembled before the end of the year. The steel structure for the tallest building, building C, is planned for March. We therefore expect to reach the highest point in the construction at the end of March. The topping-off will be a momentous occasion and will certainly not pass unnoticed.
Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
We are coming to the end of the year and the start of a new year is rapidly approaching. We wish you every success in 2006, personally and professionally. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. On behalf of the staff and business relations of ROSADA we have sent a Christmas gift to Stichting Tussen Wal en Schip. This foundation based near Roosendaal helps people facing poverty to acquire the basic essentials and helps them deal with authorities. We feel certain that the money will be put to good use by the foundation. For more information about the foundation, visit www.walenschip.nl.

which will increase the attraction of a regular visit to ROSADA. Work will begin next year on the construction of Indoor Skydive Roosendaal. This unique complex will be devoted entirely to parasports and will be the first venue in the Benelux to have a wind tunnel. The centre is expected to draw visitors from all over the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France. The 23.5-metre high tunnel simulates a complete free fall. The attraction will provide an unequalled adrenaline kick and promises to be a real sensation. Apart from the wind tunnel, the complex will have a restaurant, a large parasporting equipment store and conference facilities for up to 250 people, including a separate bar and dressing rooms. PARA, the headquarters of the Royal Netherlands Aeronautical Association, may also be moving to the complex. Indoor Skydive Roosendaal will open its doors at the end of 2006 just a few hundred metres from ROSADA, right beside the overflow car park. There will be plenty of possibilities for packages combining a visit with a trip to ROSADA.
An eye for detail
Construction is proceeding underground at the moment so there's not a lot to see at the building site. Nevertheless, we would like to give you a foretaste of how ROSADA will look by letting you see the options for the finishing of the gable walls. In the photo you can see the colours and types of stone that can be used for the finish of the retail units. The detail is an important factor that we are already considering carefully. We look forward to telling you more soon about how the walls will look.
2006 will be a fantastic year!
At last the Council of State brought the happy good news: the building freeze imposed earlier was lifted and we could continue with construction. We couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present, and one to which everyone associated with the construction of ROSADA contributed. The Factory Outlet Centre will take shape quickly in the coming months, culminating in the planned opening at the beginning of November 2006. Of course, there's still a lot to be done first. Although major progress has been made with signing leases, we have not finished. Hundreds of people will start working at ROSADA next year and early in 2006 we will reach the highest point of the FOC. These are all positive developments that will leave their mark on what we hope will be a fantastic year. And that is certainly what I wish for you. Professionally and personally. Let's hope that 2006 will long be remembered as the year ROSADA was built. And the year that marked the turning point for the economy of the region of West Brabant. And finally, the year when many millions of visitors from the Netherlands and elsewhere came to the region and helped it to flourish as never before. Andrew M. Roud, director MDG Europe Management BV
