    USC Global Fellows Internship Program Applications Available
    The Global Fellows Internship Program encourages exploration of international work
    experience. This is a competitive internship program that provides selected students with
    international internship experience in Asia. The program is open to U.S. citizens of all majors and
    provides stipends for USC undergraduates to live and work in Asia for eight weeks during the
    summer.

    Goldwater Scholarship
    Deadline: December 5th, 2008
    For undergraduate study leading to careers in mathematics or natural science or engineering. The
    scholarship awards up to $7,500 for the remaining year(s) of study. Desired qualities include a
    highly competitive grade point average and commitment and potential to make a significant
    contribution to his or her chosen field of study. It is also expected that students selected as scholars
    will pursue advanced degrees.

    Killam Fellowship Program
    Deadline: December 5th, 2008
    The Killam Fellowships Program is a scholarship program which allows undergraduate students to
    participate in a bi-national residential exchange program between Canada and the United States.
    Scholarship recipients spend either one semester or a full academic year as an exchange student in
    Canada.

    NSEP Boren Scholarship for Study Abroad
    Deadline: December 5th, 2008
    Program seeks to enhance U.S. understanding of foreign cultures, strengthen our economic
    competitiveness, and ensure our national security by fully funding students to enter a study abroad
    program with intent to learn a new language. It is designated for students enrolled in study-abroad

The Market Education team at CME Group is hosting a four-part online series called Careers in the
Futures Industry, targeted at both graduate and undergraduate students, as well as those
recently displaced in the investment banking industry.

The series will feature panelists from Hedge Funds, Futures Commission Merchants (FCMs/Brokers),
Banks, Independent Software Vendors, Proprietary Trading Firms and the Exchange (CME Group).
Each firm will cover how they are organized at a high level and the range of jobs/departments –

Introducing Walk-In Wednesdays!

Julie Samere, Career Development Advisor in the Marshall Student Services office, will be doing
individual career advising appointments on a first come, first serve basis on Wednesdays from
November 19th to December 10th from 2:00 – 4:00pm in HOH 200.  Career advising appointments
can be anything from quick resume and cover letter reviews to job search strategies, preparing for
interviews or career fairs, salary negotiation, and more.  No appointment is necessary for these
quick, 15 minute meetings – just stop by!

McNair’s Scholar Program

The USC Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program is federally funded by the U.S. Department of
Education to assist first-generation, low-income, and/or underrepresented minority students as they
prepare for and enter into post-baccalaureate degree programs. The Program offers an 8-week
intensive research institute on the USC campus over the summer, with a paid research stipend of
$2,800, and free summer housing. The program staff will help you find and cultivate a relationship
with a USC faculty mentor in your research field of interest. Applications are due November 24,

CGI U is dedicated to the distinct potential that young people and higher educational institutions
have to make a difference on their campuses and around the world. President Clinton will host the
second annual meeting of CGI U at the University of Texas at Austin, February 13-15, 2009.
Building on the success of CGI U 2008 in New Orleans, the meeting will bring together young
leaders, university presidents, and activists to address pressing global challenges in the areas of
education, energy and climate change, global health, human rights and peace, and poverty
alleviation.

The final deadline for applications is December 12, 2008.

Attending CGI U is free, and travel assistance is available for those who qualify. CGI U actively seeks
a range of students who have a variety of experiences, interests, talents, and goals.

In order to attend, all students must make a commitment to a new, measurable plan for addressing
a specific problem on their campuses or around the world.

USC Entertainment Technology Center Student Forum

The Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) is an organized research unit at USC that studies
entertainment technology developments from a consumer perspective. Our current sponsors
include all of the major studios (Fox, Disney, Sony, etc.) and various technology companies (Cisco,
Thomson, LG, etc.)

Each year, the ETC invites a select group of students to participate in our Student Forum where
senior executives from member companies are able to interact with next generation consumers.
We are interested in broadening the types of students that participate, and hence, this email to
you. The Student Forums are a valuable form of research and help shape the strategic plans of

each company. We are currently looking for outstanding students from your program to
participate in the forum.

The benefits to the student are many and include:
   • Exposure to senior executives from major entertainment and technology companies
   • In-depth insight into industry issues and politics
   • Entertainment related perks studio tours, movie screenings, posters/swag, free food, etc.
   • Unique position to influence the future of the entertainment industry

The ideal student:
   • Is either an undergrad or graduate student
   • Has a passion for entertainment products
   • Is able to express opinions on various topics in an articulate manner
   • Will commit to attending one two-hour meeting each month, throughout the 2007-2008
       school year
   • Is willing to complete research assignments and make presentations to the board
