							This is what you need to
 know now – especially
     if you are in second
    semester English 12!
There are 4 parts:
   1. Healthy Living
   2. Community Connections
   3. Career and Life
   4. Graduation Interview
HEALTHY LIVING
A. Daily Activity Requirement:
 150 minutes of moderate to
  vigorous activity per week
 Hand in your signed DPA form
  stating your activities, including
  PE or Fitness 12.
HEALTHY LIVING
B. Healthy Living Plan
 Use the template on the GTP
  SharePoint site to describe your
  goals for healthy eating, physical
  activity and stress management.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
A. 30 Hours of Work or Volunteer
  Experience during Gr. 10-12.
 Provide documentation in the form of
  a pay stub or reference letter.
 No ‘double dipping’ i.e. using
  volunteer hours for which you are
  earning course credit or service hours.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
B. Show which Employability Skills you
   developed while volunteering or
   working at this particular job.
  Check off the back of the green sheet.

C. Describe what you did and how your
   work was valuable.
  Type this paragraph on a separate piece of
   paper.
CAREER AND LIFE
A. Résumé
 See the SharePoint for templates for
   ‘highschool graduate’ résumés
B. Post-Secondary plans
 Use the Career and Life template to
   outline details of your plans for the
   year following graduation.

C. Financial Plan
 Use the template on the
  SharePoint site to make a
  balanced budget for July 2010 to
  August 2011. Remember: it must fit
  your plans for work or school!
THE GRADUATION INTERVIEW
Interview questions are on the
 SharePoint
Interviews will be with a Grad
 Support teacher or other Riverside
 staff member
You will discuss your school
 experiences and future plans
RM: Requirements Met!
   To receive your Dogwood, you must
   complete these 4 sections to earn your
   RM and cross the stage!
1. Healthy Living

3. Career and Life
4. Graduation Interview
Here’s how we’ll help you:
 You have a Grad Support teacher.
 We will give you the necessary forms to keep in a
  yellow folder with all your documents and
  written work.
 Grad Support teachers will take English 12 classes
  into the Computer lab to help students with
  writing the Healthy Living Plan, Résumé, and
  Career and Life Plan.
 Students will have appointments to meet with
  their Grad Support teachers to verify their work.
Deadlines…
 Grade 12s will complete Grad Transitions in the
 same semester as their English or Comm 12 class.

 First semester English students
   must have all written work completed in
    order to buy tickets for the Winter Ball.
   will be interviewed during the second week of
    January to receive RM on their January report.
Deadlines….
 Semester 2 English 12 students will
  be interviewed the third week of April
  in order to complete GTP before sales
  of grad tickets on April 26th.
 All Grade 12s may only purchase
  Grad Dinner tickets once they have
  earned their RM.

 Beware!! First semester students who do
 NOT complete in January will only be
 seen AFTER the second semester
 students have been interviewed.

 Grad Transitions 12 really isn’t difficult but making
 those post-secondary decisions can be.
 Use the tabs on the Grad Transitions SharePoint to
 access valuable information from the Career
 Centre and Counsellors.
 We are here to help and advise you whether you are
 taking a year off, heading to post-secondary or
 getting a job.
 Just try not to leave it to the last minute! 
