BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB:
Conduct administrative investigations of alleged employee misconduct, poor performance, policy
violations, etc. Manage the Departments Internal Affairs (IA) computerized case management, records,
and discipline system. Maintain IA files. Provide quality control of Department Use of Force Forms.
Provide training and advice to Department supervisors and managers regarding IA related issues.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties

                                        investigations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

                                                   JOB REQUIREMENTS
 Formal Education /                     Effective written and oral English communication.
 Knowledge
 Experience                             Three years internal affairs experience with an Arizona police agency and
                                        five years experience at the rank of police sergeant or above.
 Certifications and                     Valid Arizona Operators Driver’s License, current or previous certification
 Other Requirements                     through Arizona Police Officers Standards and Training Certification
                                        (AZPOST). If certification is expired, must have been in good standing.
 Reading                                Work requires the ability to read reports, laws, logs and court documents.
 Math                                   Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as
                                        addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
 Writing                                Work requires the ability to write extensive reports and correspondence.
 Managerial                             Review, assess and have input on the development and interpretation of
                                        City and Department policy and procedures, manage a case load, manage an
                                        automated case management system, conduct training for first line
                                        supervisors, consult with members of police command staff (Lieutenants,
                                        Assistant Chief and Chief).
 Supervisory /                          Work requires functioning as a lead worker performing essentially the same

                                        instructing,and scheduling work.
 Complexity                             Within this job, the employee normally performs the job by following
                                        established standard operating procedures and/or policies. The employee

 Interpersonal / Human                  The incumbents in this position contact others within the organization. In

                                        and federal agencies may also be required of the employee. Employee must
