INDIANA (EDCEC) NAMES DORINDA HEIDEN AS NEW PRESIDENT
New EDCEC President Returns to Elkhart, Indiana After 18-years of Solid
Economic Development and Commercial/Industrial Real Estate Experience
Elkhart County, Ind. —The Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County
(EDCEC) is pleased to name Dorinda Heiden as its new President beginning March 19,
Heiden comes to the new position with over 18-years of economic development and
commercial/industrial real estate experience that began in 1987 where she held the title of
Director of Economic Development at the Greater Elkhart Area Chamber of Commerce.
She is a native of Northern Indiana.
After leaving her position at the Elkhart Chamber in 1989, Heiden joined Tippmann
Properties where she worked gaining experience as a commercial and industrial real
estate agent specializing in performing intrastate and interstate marketing and sales. In
1990 she joined National Corporate Consultants Inc., where she garnered experience
from the consulting side as National Marketing and Research Director. In 1992 she then
became Manager of Economic Development for the Greater Fort Wayne Area Chamber
From 1993 until present, Heiden has held the position of President of the Whitley County
Economic Development Corporation. During her 13-years in Whitley County, Indiana
she has been responsible for securing over one billion dollars worth of new investment.
ADD ONE/DORINDA HEIDEN NEW PRESIDENT OF EDCEC
Chairman of the EDCEC Board of Directors, Greg Lintjer, President of Elkhart General
Hospital, spoke on behalf of the Board and how pleased they are with their appointment
when he said, “We are excited about Dorinda Heiden’s breadth of experience in all
facets of economic development. From her commercial and industrial real estate
experience, to her consulting, chamber of commerce experience and as 13-year leader of
an economic development organization, she brings us the leadership skills and vision we
need to further define the future of economic development in Elkhart County,” he stated.
Heiden’s educational background includes two undergraduate degrees from Indiana
University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame, which was granted in 2005.
She has Certificates in Economic and Community Development from the Ball State
Economic Development Academy, as well as a Certificate in Community Development
from Boston College.
She is an active member of the International Economic Development Council, the Mid-
America Economic Development Council, and Indiana Economic Development
The approval of the new Executive Director came during a full meeting of the EDCEC
Board of Directors on Tuesday, February 13, 2007.
