Touch of Class Dry Cleaners is a family owned and operated
dry cleaning company that has served the Lakeland area since
“Providing good quality cleaning and impeccable customer
service’ is our motto,” said Craig Morby, Nash Premji and Amin Mitha
who acquired the business in 1996.
Initially, the first location at 3612 Harden Boulevard in Oakbridge Shopping Center
housed the entire operation including all cleaning and pressing. By winning customer loyalty
and repeat business, the business continued to grow. This provided an opportunity to open a
second and much larger location at 1800 Harden Boulevard. In addition to this new store, and
the original store at Oakbridge, Touch of Class started providing mobile dry cleaning service
and hired a route driver, Stu Hendrix, who has been a veteran at providing door to door valet
service in Lakeland for several years.
Customer service and quality are THE main focus at Touch of Class. “It’s the little things
that count. Customer loyalty is unquestionably valued the most, and the quality of cleaning,
pressing, assembly and front counter service are essential as well”, stated Morby.
Touch of Class is very proud of their staff, most of who have been with them since the
inception of the business. The management feels that its people are family, and as family lana Swartzwelder (Sylvan

                              entrepreneurial academy
                              Spring 2007 - Now Enrolling
The next Entrepreneurial Academy will begin on January 17 and continue through March 8. Here is what a couple of
our graduates from the Fall session had to say about the program:
“The Entrepreneurial Academy provided an excellent opportunity for me to network with a diverse group of like-minded
people. The Academy provided outstanding instruction materials and instructors who were able to share the successes and
pitfalls of starting and sustaining a business. Although, I am not pursuing a business venture at this time, I endeavor to begin
the process within a 5 year period. The knowledge I received in the EA will assist me with applying the skills necessary to
build a successful business. I recommend this program to all persons who have an entrepreneurial spirit even it they are
not currently in business for themselves. Applied Knowledge is POWER!” - Lynne Simpkins, Entrepreneurial Academy
“I am a recent Graduate of the Entrepreneurial Academy. By attending the Academy I have received so much insight into
running the agency more efficiently. Every instructor at the academy had a wealth of information to share. Every instructor
was unique in their own right. Within each presentation there was something that you could learn and implement in your
business to make it more profitable. The Academy helped me tremendously by allowing me to witness Lakeland’s business
community. A community that is ready, willing and committed to helping one another to become successful in business.
“This is Our Community and together we can make it Better” was the heart felt cry of the people that took time to come
and speak with the students at the Entrepreneurial Academy. They were willing to take time out of their busy schedule to
come and encourage there fellow small business owner. The Academy should be the first order of business for anyone who
is thinking about starting a business or taking their business to a higher level. Every potential small business owner needs to
participate in the type of setting that is created there with the chamber staff and the business owners who give of their time,
effort and resources to make their fellow business owners successful and their community a better place to work, live and
play. GO CHAMBER!” – Diann Westley

                  emerGe lakeland Strategic Planning
EMERGE Lakeland is beginning its third year of service for young professionals in Lakeland. Under the leadership of Cauney
Bamberg (Watson Clinic Foundation) and Patrick Fagan (R.G. Crown Bank), 006 was a very exciting period in the growth of
EMERGE Lakeland. As we begin 007, EMERGE Lakeland is advancing to the next step of its evolution.
Dr. Larry Ross (Florida Southern College) led the members of the Steering Committee through a strategic planning process
to identify key issues. Members of the Steering Committee volunteered to be advocates for three initiatives. Steve Madden,
(Madden) and Punam Saxena (Punam’s Perfections) will lead the Membership initiative; Christina Moore (Waller Construction,
Inc.) and Kristin Carlson (Creative Contractors) are leading the Communications initiative: and Rachel Cassidy (Florida Southern
College) and Sam Nimah (Southern Wine and Spirits of Florida) will lead the Governance initiative. These initiatives are in
addition to ongoing committees of EMERGE Lakeland. Michael Wiener (Holland & Knight LLP) and Cauny Bamberg will
serve as co-chairs for EMERGE Lakeland in 2007. We can all look forward to benefitting from the time and expertise of these
professionals as they continue to grow their leadership skills and take on larger roles in the community.
