New Economic Report: U.S. Could Avoid Recession
                   According to the Anderson Report, issued by the University of
                   California at Los Angeles, the U.S. economy should avoid
                   slipping into a recession this year. Despite the slumping housing
                   market and credit crisis, the job market is slowing but not
                   collapsing, and consumer spending is weakening, although

Brazil Sees 5.4 Percent Growth in Economy
Government officials in Brazil announced last week that the country’s
economy grew 5.4 percent in 2007. The nation increased its exports
and had a spending fury in Latin America’s most heavily populated
country. The growth rate reported by Brazil’s Census Bureau beat out
the 5.2 percent that was forecasted by analysts surveyed by Dow Jones
