Plan Commission Meeting Cancelled

Due to a lack of agenda items, the Plan Commission meeting scheduled on June 1 has been cancelled.
The next scheduled Plan Commission meeting is on Monday, June 15.

Downtown Events Planning Committee Meeting – Wednesday, June 3, 7:00 p.m.

The next Downtown Events Planning Committee meeting is scheduled on Wednesday, June 3, at
7:00 p.m. The agenda for this meeting is available for review at the Village Hall.

Groundbreaking Ceremony for Veterans Memorial – Saturday, June 6, 10:00 a.m.

Please be reminded that the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Veterans Memorial is scheduled on

BFPC Meeting – Wednesday, June 10, 7:00 p.m.

The next Board of Fire and Police Commissioners meeting is on Wednesday, June 10, at 7:00 p.m.

Concerts on the Green, Fridays at the Village Center. beginning June 12, 7:00 p.m.

The first concert of the 2009 Concert on the Green series is on Friday, June 12, and will continue every
Friday throughout June and July, with the exception of July 3, with the last concert taking place on Friday,
July 31. They are “weather permitting” and there are no rain dates. A listing of the scheduled bands is
available on the Village’s website at and on the Village Center website at Concerts are free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring a

Plunge into Summer Party – Friday, June 12, 5:00 p.m.

The 5k Pre-Race “Plunge into Summer” Party is on Friday evening, June 12, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and
will be held at the Kohler Waters Spa. A portion of this event benefits the Morris Service Dog Program at
the Hanson Center. The event includes mini Kohler Waters Spa services, complimentary spa tours, live
music, food from Topaz Cafe and Aquatonic martinis from SKYY Vodka. Tickets are $40/person or
$75/couple and can be purchased at Kohler Waters Spa by calling (630) 323-7674 or via email at This party is being organized by Kohler and the Village Center and is not a
Village-run event.

5k Race – Saturday, June 13, 8:00 a.m.

The annual 5K Race, organized by Right Fit, will be held on Saturday, June 13, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
The race starts and ends in the Village Center, in front of the Kohler Spa. For a map of the race course,
more information or to sign up, call Right Fit at 630-850-4050 or visit There is a fee to
enter the race of $35/person or $200/corporate team. The race benefits the Morris Service Dog Program
at the Hanson Center.

Car Show – Saturday, June 20, 4:00 p.m.
The 2 Annual Burr Ridge Car Show is scheduled on Saturday, June 20, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The
event is “weather permitting” and there is no rain date. We ask that cars be pre-registered by contacting

the public. There will be door prizes, give-aways, a people’s choice award, a DJ, strolling entertainment,
a Veterans Memorial booth, and t-shirts for sale. It’s a high end car show, so specific car questions

especially dads, since it’s the night before Fathers Day.

Gower Golf Outing – Monday, June 22
The Gower Foundation for Excellence in Education’s 13 Annual Golf Outing fundraiser is scheduled on

Veterans Memorial Committee Meeting – Wednesday, June 24, 5:30 p.m.
The 2 June meeting of the Veterans Memorial Committee is scheduled on Wednesday, June 24, at
5:30 p.m.

Mayor and Village Administrator Continue on DMMC Board of Directors

I am pleased to report that Mayor Gary Grasso and I will remain on the DuPage Mayors and Managers
Conference Board of Directors for another year. Mayor Grasso will take on the responsibility of Director of
the Intergovernmental Relations Committee and is also an alternate to the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus. I
will continue as Deputy Director of the Regulatory Issues Committee. Participation on the DMMC Board of
Directors allows the Mayor and I access to the most up-to-date information regarding issues that may
affect the County and its communities, as well as to provide us a voice in the decision making process.
The list of DMMC Board of Directors for FY 09-10 is available for review at the Village Hall.

Felony Investigative Assistance Team (FIAT) Receives Grant

The FIAT task force was awarded a Forensic Computer Equipment Grant from the Illinois Attorney
Generals Office. The grant includes specialized computer hardware, software, and training for one
officer. The total value of the equipment and training is approximately $20,000.00. The main use of the
equipment is for electronic evidence recovery from various forms of digital media used in the commission
of crime. The FIAT Board of Directors voted to subsidize the training costs for additional officers from
member agencies. FIAT will reimburse member agencies 50% of training fees and 100% of travel
expenses if out of State travel is required. The new Computer Forensic Team will operate within the
Major Case Unit. Officers assigned will report to the Major Case Unit Operations Supervisor. The
specialized equipment will be housed at the Lisle Police Department.

Hansen Technologies Announces Restructuring Plans

The Village received a letter this week from Hansen Technologies, located at 6827 High Grove Blvd.,
announcing plans to restructure their operations, including employment separations. It appears that they
are letting go a total of 59 employees.

Thank You Note from Residents

The Village received a note from Dr. Dagmar Ziegler, on behalf of the residents of Deer Run
Condominiums, thanking Mayor Grasso, the Board of Trustees and Village Staff for their efforts in saving
their trees during the Commonwealth Edison Vegetation Management Plan negotiations.

DMMC Legislative Update

The DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference Legislative Update #13-2009, dated May 27, 2009, is
available for review at the Village Hall.
