Dear Teacher in charge of Tennis

                                   BSTA Small Grants 2005/06

After last year’s success the BSTA is again offering small grants to schools. These grants are
specifically aimed at increasing general tennis participation at the school and we are keen to
fund new activities. These grants are not aimed at the performance side of tennis. Grants
awarded will be between £50 - £500 and must be matchfunded. This can come from a variety
of different sources i.e. school budget, PTA funding or fundraising.

The following areas will be considered for funding:
    Equipment packages
    Teacher or Coach Education
 Facility Enhancement (i.e. playground markings, nets & posts.)
 Out of school hour’s activity at school or club
 Coaching hours - in or out of curriculum time. However coaching will only be funded if
it leads to a sustainable programme/pathway.

This year the application needs to be discussed with your Club Development Officer or Tennis
Manager at the LTA County Office. A contact sheet is enclosed. The CDO or TM will then
send us a short list of applications they endorse. We will only accept application forms from
the CDO or TM so please do not send any applications directly to Head Office. To simplify the
process application forms can be downloaded from www.schoolstennis.org

Please note that the small grant is for small tennis projects where up to £500 can make a
difference to the tennis activity at a school. It is not suitable for facility development projects. If
you require assistance with a facility project please contact your Club Development Officer.
Also if your school was awarded a small grant last academic year it will be extremely unlikely
that you will receive a grant this year.

In order to provide you with enough time to work with your CDO or TM on your application the
                                                                   th
deadline for grant forms reaching the County office is Friday 27 January. Prior to this
deadline you should have already been in contact with your CDO or TM. The CDO or TM will
then inform you if you have been successful in March.

Yours sincerely
