Brief Job Description
Clubhouse Manager Job Summary:
Responsible for all food and beverage production and service for the club. Directly supervises the
Executive Chef, the Catering & Banquet Manager, the Beverage Manager and all F&B outlet
managers including the Swimming Pool operation (Memorial-Labor day), and assures that the wants
and needs of the clubs members and guests are consistently exceeded.
Duties:
Develops the operating budgets for each F&B outlet and banquets; monitors and takes corrective
action as necessary to assure that the budgeted goals are attained. Assures the effective orientation
and training of new staff along with annual refresher “Spring Training” for all service staff. Inspects
to ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management, preventive maintenance and other
standards are consistently met. Assures that all standard operating procedures for sales and cost
controls are in place and consistently utilized. Helps plan external and internal marketing & sales
promotional activities for the F&B operation. Manages the long range staffing needs of the
department. Develops the menus with the Executive Chef for all outlets and special events.
Establishes quantity and quality output standards for personnel in all positions within the
department. Ensures that all legal requirements are consistently adhered to, including wage and
hour and federal, state and local laws pertaining to Virginia ABC liquor control. Ensures that
documentation of F&B personnel records is accurate, and implements policies & procedures for F&B
department. Monitors the ordering and receiving program for F&B products and supplies to ensure
proper quantity and price on all purchases. Greets guests and oversees actual service on a routine
basis. Develops wine list and bottle/glass wine sales promotion programs, along with Wine Club.
Develops on-going training and continuing education for food production, service and bar personnel.
Continually works to ensure correct handling procedures to minimize china and glassware breakage
and food waste. Personally handles selected member and guest complaints and advises the COO
about appropriate corrective actions taken. Maintains responsibility for sales, expenses and profit
goals as outlined in the F&B departmental operating budgets. Serves as an ad-hoc member of
appropriate club committees.


Candidate Qualifications
Experienced in Country Club operations or related. Proven to have exceptional people skills,
including training. A proven self starter, natural problem solver, and multi-tasker. An excellent
verbal and written communicator. Highly experienced in establishing and maintaining budgets.
Experienced developing menus and wine lists. Ability to work with younger energetic management
staff. Able to provide exceptional references.
