NRMRL Virtual Tour through 54 Frames of Photos and Graphics John McCready, National Risk Management Research Laboratory (Technology Transfer and Support Division), phone 513-569-7804) This presentation looks inside many of the laboratories and research sites where work is being performed by the National Risk Management Research Laboratory. PC 1:NRMRL Virtual Tour For preview purposes, it is currently available on the NRMRL Intranet Homepage. It should be set up to run continuously during the conference. PC 2: NRMRL New Media Technology Software Introduction to Comprehensive Performance Evaluations (CPEs) Training CD: The nation’s 6000+ water treatment plants are required to produce higher levels of water quality, as promulgated by the Interim Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (IESWTR) and Long-Term 1 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT1ESWTR) pursuant to the Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments. These plants are required to complete CPEs when they are triggered by certain requirements of the regulations. A CPE is a thorough review and analysis of a water treatment plant’s performance and associated administration, operation, and maintenance practices. It is conducted to identify factors that may be adversely impacting a plant’s ability to achieve permit compliance without major capital improvements. This training product was developed through a joint effort by the Office of Research and Development (National Risk Management Research Laboratory) and the Office of Water (Technical Support Center), utilizing research information/data and technology transfer tools to provide a hands-on, application-oriented approach to improving plant performance and water quality. The training module, distributed on CD, provides an enhanced substitute and primer for a one-day training seminar and a tool for review before and during actual field training. With the use of state of the art newmedia technology, this course contains peer-reviewed content, meaningful video clips, PDF documentation from the seminar course, the Composite Correction Program Handbook (EPA/625/6-91/027), web links, and an impressive mix of media that make the CPE learning and testing process more creative and enjoyable.
