The State of Illinois Latin America and Caribbean Office covers a territory comprised of

Exports from Illinois to the Latin America and Caribbean totaled $6.6 billion in 2006;
an increase of 21.4% over 2005’s amount of $5.44 billion.

              Past OTI Trade Missions to Latin America and the Caribbean

                Illinois Trade Mission to the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation
                Society (ISA) Expo Control Trade Show in Mexico City (June 2007).
                     * Eight Illinois companies in the instrumentation, systems, and automation
                       industry accompanied the OTI to the ISA’s 28th annual trade show.
                       Companies set up booths, attended investment seminars, and networked
                       with possible investors throughout Latin America. In all, the 8 companies
                       obtained 41 matchmaking appointments, 523 sales lead obtained, 20 agents
                       or reps obtained, and one sale of US$5,000. On average, the participated
                       companies expected sales of US$68,000 within the next 12 months.

                Illinois Trade Mission to Expo Comer 2007 in Panama City (March 2007)
                     * Five Illinois companies accompanied the OTI to Expo Comer, a horizontal
                       trade show; companies ranged from the energy industry to design
                       companies. These companies were taken tours of the country, networked,
                       and attended investment seminars. In all, the 5 companies obtained 24
                       matchmaking appointments, 53 sales leads, one sale of US$400, and
                       estimated future sales of $135,000 in the next 12 months.

                 Illinois Trade Mission to HOSPITALAR in Sao Paulo, Brazil (June
                 2006)
                      * Five Illinois companies accompanied the OTI to HOSPITALAR,
                        the most complete and specialized health trade shows in Latin
                        America. All Illinois firms were medical manufacturers and
                        distributor were involved in one-on-one meetings, investment
                        seminars, and were given a booth in the trade show. In all, 5
                        companies acquired 246 sales leads, 3 sales of undisclosed amounts,
                        and projected sales of $385,000 in the next 12 months.
                      * An extension of the Brazilian Trade Mission, the OTI staff held
                         meetings with trade delegate and the chambers of commerce in
                         Uruguay and Chile focusing on biotechnology.

                 Illinois Food Processing and Packaging Trade Mission to Santiago,
                 Chile (November 2005)
                 * Illinois' exports to Chile had increased 95% over the three year period
                 between 2002 and 2005; Chilean processed food exports alone topped a
                 record $1B in 2004, a figure expected to double within the next six years.
                 This mission provided strong opportunities for Illinois companies in the
                 processing and packaging equipment industry.
                 * The six Illinois companies that participated in this trade mission gathered
                 sales leads, met with potential agents/representatives/distributors, and
                 developed joint ventures and licensee leads. Of the 54 arranged
                 appointments among the six companies there were 42 sales leads generated,
                 16 agents or distributors under consideration, two licensing agreements
                 under consideration and a total of $5,910,000 in expected sales within the
                 next 12 months as a result of the mission.

                 Illinois Trade Mission to Expo Manufactura in Monterrey, Mexico
                 (March 2005)
                 * Expo Manufactura is the leading trade show in Latin America for
                 machine tools, automation, assembly equipment, electronic manufacturing
                 and more. Monterrey is the heart of Mexico’s manufacturing community,
                 with more than 15,000 manufacturing companies, including leading
                 industrial conglomerates. Eight Illinois companies participated in the
                 Illinois pavilion at Expo Manufactura 2005.

                 Illinois Trade Mission to Expo Pack in Mexico City, Mexico (June
                 2005)
                 * Expo Pack is the leading trade show in Latin America for packing. The
                 packing sector is important to the Mexican economy. It represents 1.2% of
                 the national GDP and 10.3% of the manufacturing GDP. Eight Illinois
                 companies participated in the Illinois pavilion at Expo Pack 2005.

       * Mexico City, Mexico: Investment Seminar hosted breakfast and highlighted possible
         investment opportunities in Illinois focusing on tourism, biotechnology, and
         nanotechnology.
       * Panama City, Panama: Foreign Direct Investment Seminar held dinner and discussed
         comprehensive trade and tourism opportunities.
       * Belo Horizonte, Brazil; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Santiago, Chile and Montevideo, Uruguay: held Illinois
         Breakfast Presentation, in attendance were business leaders and invitees from the chamber
         commerce to listen about Illinois trade opportunities.

OTI has received the following visitors/missions from Latin America:
       * OTI received a delegation from Monterrey, Mexico in September 2006.
       * OTI received a delegation from El Salvador in June 2006.
       * OTI received a delegation from Argentina in June 2006.
       * World Trade Center-Chicago hosted Panamanian speakers in October 2006.
