									Colorado Eagles Internship Opportunities
General Outline
The two-time Central Hockey League Champion Colorado Eagles are looking for college
students to be interns for the upcoming 2010-11 season. This is a great opportunity for
all students to gain invaluable experience toward a career in professional sports. The
Eagles are looking for students with a strong willingness to learn and a positive attitude
to go above and beyond the internship duties. All of the departments within the
organization will hire interns, and each department has a separate set of duties and
responsibilities. See below for the different departments:

Colorado Eagles Marketing and Promotions Internship
Internship Duties:
The focus of this program is to provide a student, who desires a career in Sports Management,
with an opportunity to learn and experience the business side of sports through “hands on”
participation. An interns hip with the Colorado Eagles Corporate Part nership Department will
encompass both office and game day duties. Duties will include preparation and execution of
game day promotions, meeting wit h corporate clients, assisting with off site Eagles promotional
events, handling corporate mailings and assisting in the corporate sales process. This is a great
opportunity to experience first hand the implementation of advertising efforts in sports mark eting.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
  Availability to work ALL Eagles Hom e games (approximately 4pm – 10pm)
    Excellent customer service sk ills
    Excellent written and verbal communication sk ills
    Advanced work ing k nowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook applications
    A good understanding of the game of hock ey
    A clean, professional appearance and attitude
    The availability to work 1-2 days per week on non-game days to assist the corporate
        department if necessary
    A back ground in business and/or mark eting.
    A positive attitude and a willingness to go above and beyond the internship
        responsibilities
    The ability to mak e informed decisions under pressure and tight deadlines

Colorado Eagles Media & Public Relations Internship
Internship Duties:
Assist in the preparation of Game Notes for each and every game (Game Notes are distributed to
the media, both locker rooms and the luxury suites). These include statistical information, player
bios and team comparisons. Assist in the set-up of the press box area prior to each game and
serve as a support system for the media during the games. Some writing of game program
material, press releases, game recaps and other time -sensitive materials will be included
(knowledge of AP Style is strongly recommended). You will also assist in the production of the
Eagles Media Guide(s).

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
       Excellent written and verbal communication sk ills
       Advanced work ing k nowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook applications
       A good understanding of the game of hock ey, especially with regards to rules and
        statistics
       A clean, professional appearance and attitude
       Availability to work in the Eagles office the morning of all game days for about 3 hours
       Availability to work on all of the Eagles game nights from about 5-10
       On rare occasions, the availability to assist in the Eagles office on non-game days
       A back ground in journalism or communications (a work ing k nowledge of AP Style)
       A positive attitude and a willingness to go above and beyond the internship
        responsibilities
       The ability to mak e informed decisions under pressure and tight deadlines
       Approximately 200 internship hours per semester time commitment

Colorado Eagles Merchandise Intern
Internship Duties:
A vailable to assists with game night sales by setting up, selling and taking down merchandise
stand for home games. Help organize and maintain store in November and December. Manage
online store weekly. Assist with orders and inventory on a regular basis. Provide ideas of
merchandise as well as how to market them to our demographic. This is not a complete list of
duties. Additional duties may be required depending on circumstanc es.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

This internship position is for academic credit with an opportunity for some paid hours for extra

Colorado Eagles Photography Internship
Internship Duties:
Six (6) junior or senior collegiate level students w/ previous photography experience needed to
shoot live hockey games and events. Internship to include 33 games, plus playoffs (up to 14
games) divided amongst all interns. Approximate hours per week: 4 - 12, variable to game
dates, etc. Applic ant required to have dependable tra nsportation and own photography
equipment – digital only. Images will be required digitally and will be used in both the graphics
department and media relations department. Internships are for class credit only. Please call

The ideal candidate will:
       Shoot live “professional” game action
       Document Corporate Fulfillment – Banners, Dashers, Signage, Intermission Contests
       Meet other Professional Photographers and Photo-Journalists at the games
       Be an on-ice photographer for any celebration/ presentation events, such as a wards, etc.
       Post your shots to an online photo gallery
       Get the chance for your work to be published in a newspaper or Eagles publication, such
        as Trading Cards, Game Program, Tick ets, Billboards etc.
       Document off-ice events including the Eagles Dance Team, Hock ey Camp, etc.

Typical game night:
Arrive at the B udweiser E vents Center at 6: 00 for a 7:05 game. Pick up your assignment at
Guest Services. S hoot any game night giveaways or promotions, head on down t o ice level and
set up to shoot the game. Following the game, upload your images to our online server so that
our media members can access your photos after the game.

Internship Duties:
The focus of this program is to provide a student, who desires a career in Sports Management,
with an opportunity to learn and experience the business side of sports though “hands on”
participation. An interns hip with the Eagles Ticket Sale Department will encompass both office
and game day duties. Duties will include assisting the ticketing department with facilitation of all
department events and programs. Help organize and implement all season ticket holder events
and parties. Develop new group leads and help in all group sales and fulfillment. Support and
assist the sales team in servicing current season ticket accounts. Generat e new mark eting
ideas/campaigns and developing theme nights. Game day duties include distribution of Will Call
tickets, representing the Colorado Eagles at the Guest Servic es table and visiting groups in
attendance that evening.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

Colorado Eagles Video Production/Game Operations Depts.
Internship Duties:
Come be a part of the Colorado Eagles Video Production and Game Operations Departments
and learn first-hand what it takes to work for a professional sports organization. This internship is
multi-faceted with duties relating to both video production and game operations. The t wo overlap
in many instances, so interns must not only have an int erest in video production, but live event
production as well. Interns will assist in the creation of The Colorado Eagles NoCo Hockey Show
by contributing on in-studio s hoots, writing scripts for show segments, shooting and editing video
packages, and brainstorming new and exciting show ideas. In addition, interns will also take part
in the videotaping and logging of game footage and will be required to attend most home games.
Interns will also assist the Director of Game Operations and help with the planning and ex ecution
of a successful live event presentation. Int erns will be integral in formulating new ideas for game-
night activities and creative skits, music editing, on ice promotions, and script writing. This is a
great opport unity to experience first-hand the implementation of video production and live event
production in professional sports.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
       A strong willingness to learn and be part of a team-player environment
       A positive attitude and willingness to go ab ove and beyond int ernship res ponsibilities
       A basic k nowledge of camera operations is ideal, but not necessary
       A desire to learn all aspects of television and professional sports production
       A creative mind with focus on creating entertainment value
       A desire to learn all aspects of production, including graphics, video editing, and music
        editing.
       The ability to follow complex directions in a fast-paced environment
       The ability and confidenc e to work independently and efficiently in time-sensitive
        situations
       The ability to work all home games and limited day-time office hours
