The Mathematics Problem Solving Rubric will be used as a guideline for scoring your Jigsaw Book. Your project will be scored in the areas of Conceptual Understanding, Processes and Strategies, and Communication. Conceptual Understanding: Do you understand the concepts in this unit of study? Is your translation of each concept adequate or is it thoroughly developed? Are your examples balanced between simple and challenging? Processes and Strategies: Do you use pictures, models, and/or diagrams to solve tasks? Are the components of your pictures, models, and/or diagrams labeled clearly? Do you explain components of formulas? Communication: Is the path connecting the concepts complete and have you organized your information clearly? Is each solution to your examples clearly identifiable? Does the color you use deter or enhance your organization?
To Keep In Mind…
You must have a Table of Contents Page and you must include page numbers. There are 17 full pages or 34 half pages beyond your Table of Contents. Each page must be complete – no blank pages! All drawings must be done by hand with the exception of the Book cover. You may use colored pencils, markers, and/or pens. You do need to use color! All graphs must be on graph paper.
The main purpose of this assignment is to help you review in a well-planned manner throughout the next 6 weeks. You will find the activity helpful, and you will gain a product that will remind you of important Algebra concepts during your high school math courses.
