Who We Are
Olney Theatre Center is a non-profit arts organization with a mission to create professional theater productions and other programs that nurture artists, students, technicians, administrators, and audience members; to develop each individual’s creative potential using the skill and imaginative possibilities of theater and the performing arts.
–The Washington Post In 1938 a theater was built on the site of a former roller skating rink in what was then rural Montgomery County, Maryland. During the next 70 years, the theater has evolved into what is today Olney Theater Center: a nonprofit, multi-facility, professional theater located in what is now the 17th best place to live in the nation (according to Money Magazine’s 2007 report). Olney Theatre Center now resides on 14 acres and has four performance venues. The theater performs an eight-play season on the calendar year. Shows include dramas, classics, musicals, comedies and area and world premieres.
