Under the direction of the Information Technology Director, assists with ongoing product support, training and customer support. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Primary responsibility is for installation, upgrading and troubleshooting of the City’s personal computers. Ensure user problems involving hardware and/or software are managed and resolved in a timely, professional manner. Perform in depth and routine research, analysis and problem diagnosis, consult with internal and external technical staff as necessary, and repair or replace equipment as necessary. Assists with the system operation of Local Area Network (LANs), Wide Area Network (WAN), AS400, GIS and other systems. Responsible for installation, upgrading, and troubleshooting of the City’s personal computers. Responsible for monitoring systems to make sure that the equipment is functioning properly and resources are available t o people who need them. Schedules, develops and recommends specific training for end-users. Installs and configures Microsoft operating systems on Intel-based computers. Assists in configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Cisco IP telephone systems and other communication systems. Performs operational tasks such as system backups. Troubleshoots computer and printer hardware problems reported by end users. Works on a team responsible for responding to helpdesk tickets and resolving them in a timely manner. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or and appropriate discipline is required. Familiarity with AS/400 and Microsoft operating systems and applications. Practical experience with PC hardware and software. Practical experience with desktop environments and configurations including Windows XP/2003 and MS Office. Ability to perform Help desk support and troubleshooting for network-related, software, and hardware issues. Skill in assisting employees with varying levels of computer expertise in the operation of software, computers and peripherals. Skill in diagnosing, repairing and troubleshooting all computer equipment, network related equipment, and peripherals used by the City. Excellent problem solving/analytical skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Availability for occasional off-hours or weekend tasks. Demonstration of willingness to learn, teach and be self-motivated. Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical information to City employees of all levels of technical sophistication. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; ability to follow complex written and oral instructions; extensive contact with end users. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact.

Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of officer related equipment, such as, but not limited to telephone, computer, calculator, copier and fax machine. Required to be sufficiently mobile to respond to calls at all supported locations and move heavy computer equipment and peripherals unassisted when necessary. Required to have sufficient mobility to perform duties in small spaces involving crouching, stooping, kneeling and physical ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength and finer dexterity. Ability to communicate with employees using patience and tact. Office atmosphere. Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, lifting of light and moderately heavy objects. Possession of a valid state of Florida Driver's License
