Dear Commissioners Joseph Berrios, Brendan Houlihan, and Larry Rogers, Jr., and Commissioner-
Elect Dan Patlak;
Please find the following documents enclosed:
1. Appeal Based on Lack of Uniformity, and
2. 2010 Real Estate Assessed Valuation Complaint
Where I’d like to request that you pay close attention to the building square footage values provided,
compared to the building assessment itself and, of course, the resulting total assessment.
I intentionally chose only buildings that were bigger than my own, to drive “home” the point that I’m
being singled out for higher taxes; and I also wanted to highlight just how large the disparity is
between my property, and those belonging to others.
I will be posting this appeal on the Internet, and posting follow-up announcements to my “fans” online;
mostly to show how unfair our property tax system really is, and just how difficult it is to get one’s
assessment lowered given only good research.
The Cook County Board of Review, just like most systems of government in Illinois, relies on
patronage, graft, bribes, pay-to-play, and the hiring of politically-connected “friends”; in this case,
lawyers.
And those of us who choose not to play this sick and disgusting game, end up paying more in taxes.
Cordially,
David N. Jenkins
