                           MTAPTL REGIONAL MATH COUNT 2010
                                   Rules and Regulations

1. NATURE OF THE CONTEST

  A. The REGIONAL MATH COUNT 2010 is an interscholastic contest sponsored by the Mathematics
     Teachers Association of the Philippines-Tertiary Level Chapter (MTAP-TL) in cooperation with
     Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod . Its main objective is to promote mathematics in different fields
     among college students in regions outside Luzon.

  B. The Contest shall be divided into two phases:(individual and group)
          1. Elimination Round – November 27, 2010 at 8AM
          2. Final Round         - November 27, 2010 at 1PM

   C. The contest shall be divided into these areas:
           1. College and Advanced Algebra, Trigonometry
           2. Analytic and Solid Geometry
           3. Calculus ( Differential, Integral and Differential Equations)
           4. Statistics and Probability

   D. The contest will be divided into two categories: individual and team. The team shall be
      composed of three (3) members and one (1) alternate. Each participating university can send
      at least one team.

II. PROCEDURE

   A. ELIMINATION ROUND

      1. The elimination round will be conducted on November 27, 2010 (Saturday), 8 AM, at the
          Auditorium, Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod. Contestant are required to be at the contest
          site fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled time. Each contestant is required to bring his
          or her pens. No calculators are allowed. Contestants will be required to present school ID'
        for proper identification.

      2. This round shall be written contest, which will be taken by all team members
         individually including the alternates. This examination will be administered for 2 hours.
         All questions are problem solving type.

      3. The team standing shall be based on the average score of the member in the said examination.
         The top ten(10) scoring teams will qualify for the final round as a team in the TEAM Category
         and the top ten (10 ) individuals will qualify for the final round in the INDIVIDUAL Category.

      4. Cheating and other forms of dishonesty will not be tolerated. Anyone caught shall
        automatically disqualify his team from the contest.

B. FINAL ROUND

  1. The final round will be conducted on stage at the Auditorium on November 27, 2010
     (Saturday), 1PM. Contestants are required to be at the contest site fifteen (15) minutes
      before the scheduled time.
  2. The top ten (10) individuals will qualify in the INDIVIDUAL CATEGORY and the top ten
           (10) qualifying teams shall compete in the TEAM Category.
        3. The contest is divided into three rounds namely: Basic, Extremely Basic, and Super Basic
           Each round will consist of ten questions in different subject area. Each questions will be
           worth 7, 10, and 15 respectively.
       4. The individual/team with the highest accumulated scores in the three rounds will be the champion.
       5. In case of a tie, tie- breaking questions shall be asked until the tie is broken.
       6. The alternate may be allowed to replace a team member after the first round.

    III. PROTESTS
          A. All protests will be handled and decided upon by Board of Judges.
          B. Complaints on a given question is asked. These should be directed to the chairman of the board of
         judges. All decision of the board of judges are final.

    IV. PRIZES AND AWARDS
        A. Participating students will be given certificates of participation.
        B. Winners will receive cash prizes and medals for the students and a plaque for the school.

               INDIVIDUAL CATEGORY:
                         First Place:                P 3,000.00 + medal
                         Second Place:               P 2,000.00 + medal
                         Third Place:                P 1,000.00 + medal

               TEAM CATEGORY:
                        First Place:                 P 3,000.00 + medal
                        Second Place:                P 2,000.00 + medal
                        Third Place:                 P 1,000.00 + medal

    V. REQUIREMENTS:

       1.   Registration fee of One Hundred Pesos (P100.00)/contestant
       2.   School ID
       3.   Accomplished reply slip form
       4.   School Registration Card
