What: Battlefield Perimeter Hike When: March 28-30, 2003 Where: Chickamauga Battlefield, Chattanooga, TN Deadline: Permission slips and money due on or before March 24, 2003 Departure: Meet at church Friday evening at 6:00 PM Depart church at 6:30 PM (travel time: 2 hours) Return: Sunday noon at church Cooking: Patrol Cooking (Pay Patrol Leader for food) Uniform: Wear BSA uniform (neckerchief not required) What to Bring: Refer to Winter Dump Camp checklist Bring a day-pack and all the outdoor essentials
IMPORTANT: Bring a sack meal for Friday evening!
We will be dump camping both nights on this outing. Our hike around the battlefield will be basically a dayhike and we will carry our lunch meal with us. The perimeter hike is eleven miles and will include basic scout skills (compass, nature, map reading, American Heritage). This is a great opportunity for completing requirements for rank advancement.
