Madison Avenue Elementary School M.A.S. NEWS February 2006 M.A.S. NEWS is a monthly newsletter containing information, activities, and news about Madison Avenue Elementary School. The newsletter is sent home with every student once a month. Please take a few minutes to find out what is happening at OUR school! Dear Madison Avenue Parents and Students, On January 29th, we had our first Red Cross Blood Drive. I was informed that this was a good time of year for a blood drive, because the need is great this time of year and this event was a huge success. The donors gave 50 pints of blood! I would like to thank the donors and the volunteers that were able to participate in this event. I would like to thank Shanon Berwald for organizing Pizza Bingo and all of the volunteers that helped to make this a fun event. We had a wonderful turnout both evenings. The children and families enjoyed an affordable evening of entertainment and socialization. I would also like to thank Mr. Kalb, Mr. Prib, Ms. Ciolek, Mr. Schmidt, Ms. Morrison and Ms. Stensland for helping to make this a memorable experience for our children. MASCO MATTERS By Adam Kalb As I sit here writing this newsletter it is something like 5 degrees outside, I can’t help wondering where the December weather went. Despite the cold weather we are still heating things up with MASCO events. We have had our Pizza Bingo nights. They both were successful. Thanks to all the helpers that made this such a success. Special thanks to Shanon Berwald for organizing both nights. This Friday we have our annual Valentine’s Dance. This is held at LaMuth Middle School. Letters were sent last week. We look forward to that fun event. Looking ahead to March, on the 9 th we have our Spaghetti Dinner, held at the RHS cafeteria from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. We will have classroom theme baskets for sale again. All you have to do is buy a ticket for a chance to win the basket. Dinners will be $5.00 for Adults, $3.00 for Children and include Meatballs, Breadstick, Salad, Milk, Homemade Dessert and "All You Can Eat" Spaghetti. There are vending machines available in the cafeteria if you prefer a beverage other than milk with your meal. Vending machine purchases are not included in the cost of the dinner. Ticket order forms will be sent home with your child in early February. Once again this year we will be hosting the "Classroom Basket Raffle" at the dinner. Each teacher has been asked to choose a theme at which time each parent in their class will be asked to send in items for the basket. There will also be presale ticket order forms sent home for those of you who would like to bid on the baskets but will be unable to attend the dinner. If you signed up to work at the Spaghetti Dinner via the MASCO Job Jar you will be contacted soon. You will also be contacted if you are on the Baking Committee. If you have not signed up for either of these committees and would like to help please call Denise Monty 440-352-7741. Don’t forget to attend the MASCO meeting February 15, 2007, held in the library at 7:00.
