                              NOTICE OF RACE


The 2004 Vaurien European Championship will be held from 26th July to 30th
July 2004 both inclusive on Hondarribia waters, (Spain), organised by the Club
Náutico Hondarribia in conjunction with the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation,
the Federación Vasca de Vela and the Vaurien International and National
Association.

1.- RULES

1.1   The Championship will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2001-
      2004 ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing, The Prescriptions of the Spanish
      Sailing Federation, Rules of the International Vaurien Class, The Sailing
      Instrucions and the Notice of Race.

1.2   RRS 42 will be judged on – the – water, according appendix N of the
      RRS.

2.- SAILING INSTRUCCIONS

2.1   Sailing Instructions will be available at the Regatta Office of Club Náutico
      Hondaribia at check – in from 11:00 AM on Monday July 26th 2004.
2.2   An international Jury would be appointed, according Appendix M, and the
      decissions of it would be final, according RRS 70.4.

3.- ELIGIBILITY

3.1   All competitors shall be currently paid up members of a recognized
      National Vaurien Association.
3.2   To qualify for the junior championship, entrants must be born on or after
      1st January 1.985.

4.- ADVERTISING

4.1   The event is classified as a Category C event (RRS Appendix 1).
4.2   Competitors may be required to display on their hulls advertising under
      RRS rules Appendix 1. regulation 20.3(d)(i). All Class rules in
      contradiction with this rule are altered in consequence.
5.- ENTRIES

5.1.   Entries are to be made according to the enclosed entry form and shall be
       delivered before 26th June 2004 at:

       The Organising Committee has the right to accept entries received after
       the date at its discretion.

5.2.   The entry fee is 120,00 EUR.
       Bank transfer shall pay entry fees before 27th July 2004 to:

       Or upon arrival on the first day of registration.

5.3.   Each competitor shall personally register and sign the registration form at
       the Race Office before 10:00hrs on 27 July 2004.

5.4.   Registration is subject to the presentation before that time of the
       following documents:
       a) the original Measurement Certificate of the boat;
       b) For non Spanish competitors: a copy of a valid third – party liability
           insurance with a minimum cover of 300.500 euros. The document
           shown must be in English language and be the original issued by the
           insurance company (the RFEV licence has this insurance)
       c) for Spanish competitors only, the RFEV 2004 licence.
6.- PROVISIONAL PROGRAMME

6.1.   The provisional programme is as fo llows:

       26 July 2004          10:00h – 13:30h           Competitors registration
                             15:00h – 20.00h           Delivery of Sailing Instructions
                                                       Stamping

       27 July               12:00h                    Races
       28 July               12:00h                    Races
       29 July               12:00h                    Races

                                                       Closing ceremony

6.2.   12 Races are scheduled, from which 2 need to be completed to the
       championship to be valid.
6.3.   If five or more races are completed each competitor may discard its
       worst score. If ten or more races are completed each competitor may
       discard its two worst scores.

7.- SCORING

7.1    The Low-Point Scoring System (RRS Appendix A) will apply.
7.2    As scratch score will be established (all competitors taken together).
       Two overall results will be then done:
       - men / mixed
       - women

8.- SAIL AND EQUIPMENT STAMPING – MEASUREMENT

8.1    The competitors shall present for measurement and stamping the
       following equipment:
       Hull – centreboard – rudder –1 mast – 1 boom – 1 spinnaker boom – 1
       main sail – 1 head sail – 1 spinnaker.

8.2    No boat can compete using sails not previously stamped.
8.3    Measurement checks may be made daily.


9.- PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded to:

       -   The top three boats;
       -   The top three in the junior results;
       -   The top three in the female results.
10.- DISCLAIMER

All those taking part in the event do so at their own risk and responsibility.

The Organising Committee or any part involved with the organization of the
event disclaim any and every responsibility whatsoever for loss, damage, injury
or inconvenience that might occur to persons and goods, both ashore and at
sea as a consequence of participation in the races covered by this Notice of
Race.

Attention is drawn to the RRS Fundamental Rule 4 – Decision to Race, which
states:
“The responsibility for boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue
racing is hers alone”.

11.- ACCOMMODATION, MEALS AND GENERAL INFORMATION

11.1. The organization will provide pic-nic from 27th to 30th of July.
11.2. The organization will not provide accommodation to competitors.
