_____________________________________________________________________________________ The City of Kennewick receives funds from the room tax imposed upon hotels and motels located inside the City limits. The City has retained some of those funds to be distributed for a narrow range of events and activities permitted by state law. The City accepts applications for use of those funds. To be considered for funding, applications must meet the following criteria based upon RCW 67.28.210.
1. The City’s Hotel/Motel Tax should “leverage” other funds. Proposals for funding should not exceed 10% of the activity/event’s cash budget, unless the event is totally dependent upon volunteer efforts. The maximum funding available for an event is $1500. 2. Hotel/Motel funds should be directed to the events that generate the maximum economic benefit. 3. City Council will favor providing “seed” money to new events as opposed to funding established, recurring events. The Council encourages all events and organizations to become self-sustaining. 4. City Council’s desire is to establish Kennewick as a tourism leader for purposes of business, pleasure, recreation, education, arts, heritage and culture.

How many room nights will the project generate? Does the activity/event promote Kennewick outside the Tri-City area? How many out of town participants are estimated? How reliable is the information provided by the organization?
1. Applications must be submitted to the Kennewick Parks & Recreation Department 45 days prior to the event. 2. Review all attached information. 3. Complete the Event Promotion Request form. 4. Attach a detailed budget for the event including the budget for promotions. 5. Provide documentation of room blocks with hotel/motels. 6.
