Avnet Technology Solutions Makes Two Executive
Appointments in the Americas
Chris Swahn selected to lead the Oracle Solutions group; Darren Adams promoted to general manager and
vice president of Avnet’s Cisco Solutions group

TEMPE, Ariz.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Avnet Technology Solutions, the IT solutions distribution leader
and an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE:AVT), today announced two executive appointments in the Americas.
Chris Swahn has been named general manager and vice president of Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas’ Oracle
Solutions group. This position was previously held by Mike Hurst, who was appointed vice president, global supplier
business executive for Avnet’s Oracle relationship in July. Darren Adams has been promoted and will assume
Swahn’s previous role as general manager and vice president of Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas’ Cisco
Solutions group, where he will oversee business acceleration for Cisco. Both executives will report to Jeff Bawol,
president, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas.

With more than 24 years of channel experience, Swahn will leverage his market knowledge, management skills and
previous experience as vice president of sales for Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas’ Sun Solutions group to
accelerate the success of Avnet’s Oracle business in the Americas. During his more than two-decade career with
Avnet, Swahn led the development and creation of the Cisco Solutions group and, has served as vice president of
sales for HP Solutions group in the Americas, where he and his team achieved double-digit growth. He also has held
sales and executive positions in Avnet’s Compaq and storage businesses. Beyond Avnet, Swahn served as the
president of a large reseller, where he grew the business to more than $300 million in annual sales.
Adams steps into his new position with in-depth experience with Cisco. He led the initial recruitment efforts that
resulted in Avnet being selected as Cisco’s specialty distributor in the U.S. and Canada. For the past year, Adams
has served as vice president of supplier business acceleration, working to increase engagement with current suppliers
and recruit new suppliers in support of Avnet’s solutions distribution strategy. In this role, Adams also supported
supplier development at the global level, which he will continue to oversee at both the regional and global levels for
the immediate future. Adams has been with Avnet for more than eight years, joining as sales director in the Asia
Pacific region in 2002. Prior to Avnet, Adams served as managing director of Asia Pacific and Japan for Concord
Communications. He began his IT career with IBM in Australia, where he advanced through a variety of
programming and systems engineering positions before moving into sales and marketing.
