Banner 6.x and GaMods 6.0 Released on June 4, 2004!
On June 4, 2004, OIIT released Banner 6.x and Georgia Enhancements 6.0 to the USG institutions for production implementation. By December 2004, all University System of Georgia institutions using Banner are required to upgrade to Banner 6.x and the Georgia Enhancements 6.0. Banner 6.x is scheduled for production release in June 2004. The prerequisites for installing this upgrade are as follows: • Oracle 9.2.0.4 is required for Banner version 6.1 • Accounts Receivable 5.4.1 • Faculty Self-Service 5.3 • Financial Aid 5.12 • General 5.6 • Student 5.5 • Student Self-Service 5.5 • Web General 5.2 • Web Tailor 5.3 Prerequisites for the Georgia Enhancements 6.0 are as follows: • Accounts Receivable 6.1 • Financial Aid 6.4 • General 6.2 • Student 6.1.1 • Georgia Enhancements 5.17

GaBEST Model Project
As part of the Georgia BEST Model Implementation, OIIT has decommissioned and discontinued support for several forms and processes, as well as discontinued modifications to certain forms and processes in favor of using the baseline products. The following translation forms were decommissioned with the release of Georgia Enhancements 5.11 and the conversion to the EDI Cross-Reference Rules Form (SOAXREF).

With the Georgia Enhancements 5.12 release, OIIT discontinued support for the USG Transcript Request Form (ZHARQTC). USG institutions can use the Banner baseline Transcript Request Form (SHARQTC) to produce USG transcripts from the USG Academic Transcript Process (ZHRTRTC). With the Georgia Enhancements 6.0 release, OIIT discontinued support for several Georgia Enhancement processes to implement the use of Banner baseline processes. These processes have been removed from the Process Maintenance Form (GJAJOBS) and can no longer be executed via Job Submission (GJAPCTL) The following processes will be no longer be available:

The modifications and enhancements to the baseline product to process non-Title IV students under the Returnto-Title IV policy have been decommissioned and are no longer available for use. The following baseline forms will no longer include OIIT modifications.

OIIT has discontinued modifications to RPEPCKG and UVARTN to process the HOPE scholarship. In the past, modifications were necessary for RPEPCKG and UVARTN in order to award HOPE and HOPE Book funds. The GTIV fund code association is no longer required for students who fall into one of the following scenarios: • Students with a high EFC and eligible for HOPE plus any other aid • Students whose total aid package exceeded COA USG institutions can use the SCT Banner baseline processes without OIIT modifications. In Student 6.1, a new hierarchical logic is used when articulating credit hours on SHATAEQ. 1. Credits Used from SHATATR Equivalent Block. 2. If the Calendar Type/Multiplier for the institution defined in SOABGTA is not null, calculate the equivalent course credits by multiplying the transfer courses' credits by the value in the Calendar Type/Multiplier field. 3. If the Calendar Type/Multiplier for the institution defined in SOABGTA is null, assign the value entered for the transfer course to the equivalent course. For more information about this, refer to SCT FAQ 12212 on ActionWeb and the problem resolution for Defect 84518 in the Student 6.1 Release Guide located at www.usg.edu/banner . A new layer of web processing controls has been added to the Term Control Form (SOATERM). The new Web Display Controls panel can only be accessed by performing a NextBlock function from the Web Processing Controls panel.
The Catalog and Schedule Search Controls allow you to restrict or enable selected search capabilities when a student searches for available courses on the Look-up Class to Add page in the Registration menu of Student Self-Service. The values within each search options can be further controlled by the Web Display List Customization Form (SOAWDSP). HOPE Invoicing
To address concerns raised by the State Auditor’s Office that the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) exercise adequate controls over the disbursement of HOPE Scholarship and Grant funds, GSFC has developed a HOPE Invoicing System they intend to implement state-wide in the Fall Term of 2004. As part of GaBEST, OIIT has worked with GSFC and pilot institutions to provide the functionality needed to submit invoices to receive HOPE funding. The GaBEST HOPE Invoicing Process produces an invoice to be sent to the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC). Beta testing is scheduled for completion on June 16, 2004 by all USG institutions. The 5.19 and 6.0.1 versions of HOPE Invoicing will be production released on June 30, 2004. You are strongly encouraged to review the Georgia Enhanced Banner Student and Financial Aid System User Documentation, Using HOPE Invoicing, Chapter 18. The documentation provides setup instructions that are required for processing HOPE Invoices. The documentation can be found at http://www.usg.edu/banner. A HOPE reconciliation process will be developed by OIIT. This process will allow the institutions to reconcile Banner to the GSFC for HOPE disbursements and payments. This process has an anticipated release of Fall 2004. Additional information regarding the reconciliation process is forthcoming.

SCT Computer-Based Training (CBT)
OIIT has placed several Banner V6 CBTs at http://swdist.banner.usg.edu/. Access to this Web site is secure and requires a user name and password. Please contact OIIT Customer Services if you need assistance with permission to access this site. All CBTs are in the ISO file format. An ISO file contains the complete image of a disc. Once downloaded, you can burn it to a CD using most CD-burning software. As you use these materials, please remember that they deal strictly with SCT baseline Banner and do not incorporate modifications for USG enhancements nor USG-specific business practices.
