Directions: Define and state the purpose of the following parts of a seed.


Cotyledon – stored    food inside a seed to nourish the young plant.


Seed Coat –outer,     protective layer covering the seed


Hilum – the scar on a seed coat at the location where it was
attached to the plant's stalk during development



Embryo (referring to a seed) –      developing plant still inside the seed.



Hypocotyl –   the part of the stem of a sprouting plant (root)




Plumule – shoot---leaves of plant
