2004 BOSS Good Idea Installation: 6th ASG, Stuttgart Germany Describe Event: 2004 Madden / NBA Live Play station (PS2) Tournament. Members of the community got together and put their hand / eye coordination skills to the test in single elimination Madden (football) and NBA Live (basketball). Number of Participants: 45 Event held at: Community Club (Patch Barracks) Event held on: 26 June 2004 Target market/audience: Age 18-27 video game fanatics Steps taken to plan and execute event: The BOSS council first met with the marketing office to see what the plan of action should be. Council members then went to the Community center to lock down the location for the event about 3 months in advance. We took a look at the location to get an appropriate room layout for the event. We then consulted with Community groups to check on audio-visual equipment; the Patch High School agreed to donate 7 large projector screens and equipment to operate the PS2’s. We also consulted with AAFES and DECA for any possible donations they could provide. The night before the event BOSS members met at the community club and started the set-up process. All stations and equipment was tested for performance, also food preparation was done so the prep work wouldn’t be a problem the day of the event. Problems or concerns encountered: Male population dominated the event. The target age was not specified and many unsupervised youths ranging from age 15-17 participated. This turned out to become a positive effort because the youths gave the adults a run for their money. How event was marketed: 6th ASG Marketing Office, which advertised in the local community post, AFN community page, flyers were posted in all MWR facilities. Also, each BOSS member posted flyers and sent e-mail through their chain of commands at formations and all hands call. As the BOSS President, I updated all senior enlisted advisors (SEAs) at the weekly meetings for three consecutive weeks. Describe assistance and partnerships from outside agencies/businesses: Stuttgart Community Spouses’ Committee (SCSC) donated funds for the event, the Community Club partnered with the BOSS program, MWR, AAFES, and DECA donated prizes and food for this event.
