Dear Friends,
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to Korea for
the “IDF WPR Diabetes Jamboree 2004” that is to
be held during the period of August 25th~28th,
2004 in Yeongjong Island, Korea.
Organized under the slogan “Friendship beyond
Diabetes,” IDF WPR Diabetes Jamboree will
contribute to the prevention of diabetes and
facilitation of diabetes management in Western Asia
Pacific region. Also the Jamboree serves the people
of the Western Asia Pacific region an opportunity to
Sung-Koo Kang
facilitate friendship and harmony beyond the
Chair of IDF-WPR
boundaries of language and culture.
Diabetes is on the increase in the world especially Western Asia Pacific region countries.
In 1995, there were 135 million people with diabetes around the World. This is
expected to rise to 300 million by 2025. Most of this increase will be seen in
developing countries, where a 170% increase is expected, compared with a 42%
increase in the developed world. It is common for people with diabetes to suffer other
health problems. It is time to act for the prevention of diabetes and education on
diabetes management.
The IDF WPR Diabetes Jamboree 2004 has been designed to unite regional-wide
people with diabetes to build communicable network, and show the concerns with
diabetes care and education throughout various activities including recreational
activities.
I thank you for your continuous interest and support to bring more successes to our
region. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming participants from all of our
member and potential member countries.
Kind regards,
Sung-Koo Kang
