                                                                   The programme provides opportunities for middle leaders to

14    Coaching and mentoring                                        Local      Opportunity- Leadership coaching allows clients to focus on
                                                                               their priorities. Coaching enables leaders to focus on getting the

15    Research Associate                           Headteachers     National   Opportunity - The Research Associate Programme offers
      Programme                                    Early Years                 an opportunity for senior school leaders and leaders of
                                                                               children's centres to engage in enquiry and undertake
                                                                               research that will impact on practice.

                                                                               The induction training sessions are delivered in-house by the
                                                                               National College and include input from the research associate
                                                                               programme manager, research consultants and former
                                                                               research associates. Associates then plan, implement and
                                                                               evaluate an action-focused inquiry with supervision and support
                                                                               from the programme manager.. At the final writing stage there

3   Local Leaders of Education   National   Opportunity -Local leaders of education (LLEs) are
                                            successful headteachers who work as system
                                            leaders to build capacity and raise attainment in

5   Professional Partner         Coaching and mentoring                 National   Opportunity - Head Start is a professional

    Leadership Teams                                                 (DSLT) has been designed to enhance the leadership

10   Head Start                                                            National   Opportunity-

                                                                                      Head Start is a professional development programme for
                                                                                      new headteachers, providing a seamless transition from
                                                                                      the National Professional Qualification for Headship
                                                                                      (NPQH) into early headship. It replaces the Early
                                                                                      Headship Provision (including New Visions and the
                                                                                      flexible grant). The programme includes an entitlement to
                                                                                      support from an experienced serving headteacher
                                                                                      (professional partner), together with a range of high-
                                                                                      quality, conte xtualised learning materials and local
                                                                                      opportunities.Head Start supports new headteachers in
                                                                                      becoming highly effective in their roles through

8    Institute of Leadership   Local   Opportunity - IL M courses in Team Leading,
     Management Programme              Management and Workplace Coaching offer an efficient
                                       and streamlined route to developing and certificating
     (ILM)                             leadership, management and coaching skills.
                                       These ILM certificated courses are based on structured
                                       training programmes, which may be delivered either
                                       through in-company workshops or via a blended

                                       Candidates undertake a series of short knowledge

8   Research Associate       Headteachers          National   Opportunity - The Research Associate Programme

                                                              The induction training sessions are delivered in-house by
                                                              the National College and include input from the research

                                                              supervision and support from the programme manager..
                                                              At the final writing stage there will be additional editorial
                                                              and writing support from the programme manager or an
                                                              editorial consultant.
