?Staging of colorectal cancer and
colon cancer (UICC)

?

The American Cancer Association (AJCC American Joint Committee on
Cancer) in 2002 with the TNM (Table 1) are replaced by the Dukes
phasing. Tumor marker: T represents the intramural depth, rather than
the size of the tumor. AJCC staging system contains two important
survival Predictor: lymph and intramural depth. 4 or more positive
lymph nodes or roughly pathology of intramural survival time
shortened. Some patients with stage II with lymph node-positive
patients have a very high risk of recurrence. Yunnan provincial

Table 1. AICC/UICC staging

Primary tumor: T

Tx : Primary tumor cannot be evaluated

T0 : There is no evidence of primary tumor

Tis : Carcinoma in situ of : limited to basement membrane
(epithelium) or propria (mucus) without the proliferation of mucosal
myometrium

T1 : Invading muscle submucosa

T2 : Invading muscle
T3 : Penetration and serous below, or no coverage of film, around
the colon and rectum the surrounding tissue.

T4 : Invasion and other organ or tissue, and/or peritoneal
penetration dirty layer. Directly through the film surface is T4. In
the perianal or colon around fat inside diameter > 3mm tumor nodules,
not in its scope and the rest of the evidence, the lymph nodes should
be as a colon-rectal or surrounding area surrounding lymph node
metastasis. However, with a diameter ≤ 3 tumor nodules are
classified as non-continuous diffusion to T3

Regional lymph nodes: N

Nx: lymph node status cannot be evaluated

???N0 : No regional lymph node metastasis

???N1 : 1 ~ 3 a positive lymph nodes. Around the colon or rectum
surrounding fat or adjacent mesentery (mesocolic FAT) there is no
evidence that the rest of the lymph node metastasis of nodules or
lesion is equivalent to the regional lymph node metastasis. Fat
around the colon can only through a microscope to see multiple
metastases should be regarded as a single node metastasis. Around the
colon or rectum in diameter around the fat > 3mm tumor nodules
without it the rest of the lymph nodes within the scope of the
evidence, should be used as a colon-rectal or surrounding area
surrounding lymph node metastasis to classification

???N2 : 4 or more positive lymph nodes

Distant metastasis: M

???Mx : Distant metastasis cannot evaluate

???M0 : No distant metastasis

???M1 : Has distant metastasis. External iliac lymph node or common
iliac is considered to be the transfer of the M1
